These pickets are 6” wide. There are 12” in a foot. You need 2 pickets per foot. If you have 54 ln ft, you need 108 pickets. I’m drunk and got this .. good luck building it
Elaine, Multiply 54' x 12" to change your number to inches. Then divide that number by the width of the picket which is 5.5" =117.8. I always add some extras just in case they are bad and can return them. You will also need your starter and end pickets.
For my fence, I assumed 1/4" gap in either side, for a total of 6" per picket, or 2 pickets per foot of fence. So for your case you need 54' * 2/ft or 108 pickets.
We didn’t get any but with a pro account you get bonus coupons. Ours totaled almost $200

The target net width of these pickets is 5.5" when milled. Different pieces may have slight variations.
Thanks Mozzie, was going to cut the end off where the dog ear is each piece needs to be 66 inches any thoughts on this vs tongue and groove? I personally like the color of cedar but very pricey here Also what about a light sand on them?
Definitely will work since cedar is weather resistant. Plus it smells great!
Cedar is a great option for any outdoor use. While these aren’t sanded smooth, they aren’t rough to the point your clothes would be snagging or giving splinters. The only caution I’d give you is these are dog eared, so they would not have the same aesthetic of the squares ends of the ship lap.
I used for upright planters and am very happy with it. My wife also stained with flower patterns and they have held up in all weather
Western red cedar supposedly.
This is the High Quality Japanese Cedar
These are heat treated/ kiln-dried for elimination of insect/pests, but no chemicals or pressure treatment has been applied- this is natural decay-resistant cedar
