About This Product

Pressure-Treated Southern Yellow Pine meets the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. Treated for protection against fungal decay, rot and termites, it is ideal for ground contact and a variety of general uses including exposed structures, sill plates, decks, docks, ramps and other outdoor applications. Responsibly manufactured from renewable southern yellow pine, this lumber is both safe and environmentally friendly when used as directed in appropriate applications.Treated wood is typically still wet when it's delivered to The Home Depot or job site. As it dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length. As lumber dries, it may split, cup and warp. This is more likely to occur to occur in lower-grade boards, where knots and uneven grains are already present. Each piece of lumber is unique and carries physical characteristics that may include the following: knots, warping, shrinkage, swelling and/or splitting. Nominal Dimensions: 2 in. x 12 in. x 10 ft. (Actual Dimensions: 1.5 in. x 11.5 in. x 10 ft.)

Answer This Question

Hello WES 716, there is no specific timeframe, as drying time can vary per region. We recommend testing the moisture content by using the water droplet test.

For your 2x12 pressure treated lumber, I know the thickness would actually be 1.5" but is the actual width 11.25" or 11.5"?

High quality and the cost is fair with other type of star screws.

Dear moose, Thank you for letting UFP Retail Solutions know about your frustrating experience with the lumber that your local store representative picked out. We value you as a customer and can assure you that this lumber is normally of excellent quality. However, as wood dries, it may split, cup and warp, which are natural occurrences of wood. If you are still in need of lumber, please see a Pro Associate at your local store for product availability or the possibility of completing a special order for what you need; however, we recommend hand-selecting your pieces at your local store. If there is anything that we, as the manufacturer, can do regarding this lumber, please contact us at UFPRetailCS@UFPI.com, and one of our customer service representatives will be happy to assist you.
18% unusable product! Warped! Checked! Cracked! Ideally I pick out the lumber myself. Because I ordered so much bulk lumber I ordered extra to cover for the bad lumber I knew I would get. Paying extra to get the good lumber I need is responsible contracting. Wishing bulk lumber was truthfully better and more reliable without the waste.

We purchased this lumber for a well house project with a deck on top, and it turned out great. The wood was in excellent condition—straight, sturdy, and easy to handle. Delivery was smooth and on time, and we’ve always had a positive experience buying materials from Home Depot. It’s nice to be able to count on both quality and service.

I had 2x12x12s and Trex composite decking boards delivered. The 12x12x12s were twisted and beat up. The decking boards were scratched up and one was another manufacturer. I returned all and re-purchased; picked the products myself. I wasted time, effort, and $79 delivery fee.

                      Knots, missing edges and chinks
I did an order for delivery of lumber, mulch and soil. The bagged mulch was outstanding quality. The lumber was a huge disappointment. I truly believe that somewhere in the store is a stack of rejected lumber because of huge knots, chunks out of the edges and chinking. That is where all the lumber delivered to me in this order came from. No conscientious employees putting these loads together. It may be the managers. It may be the floor people, but they showed no care for this customer when they sent this lumber. I think I'd done better if I'd gone to a hurricane site and purchased debris, and I'd felt better paying the victims my money.
