About This Product

Pressure-Treated Southern Yellow Pine meets the highest grading standards for strength and appearance. Treated for protection against fungal decay, rot and termites, it is ideal for ground contact and a variety of general uses including exposed structures, sill plates, decks, docks, ramps and other outdoor applications. Responsibly manufactured from renewable southern yellow pine, this lumber is both safe and environmentally friendly when used as directed in appropriate applications.Treated wood is typically still wet when it's delivered to The Home Depot or job site. As it dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length. As lumber dries, it may split, cup and warp. This is more likely to occur to occur in lower-grade boards, where knots and uneven grains are already present. Each piece of lumber is unique and carries physical characteristics that may include the following: knots, warping, shrinkage, swelling and/or splitting.

Great quality pressure treated wood. For this job I used it as a temporary base when supporting posts for structural work. I get multiple uses out of the product due to its strength, and working on a dirt floor basement being PT I dont have to worry about it rotting while in contact. Better pricing than the lumber yards.

The board that was picked had a 6' long split down the middle. This is unacceptable and completely unusable. I have some sourced my lumber from a competitor.

HD needs to consider a new supplier or better grade of lumber
The quality of lumber here is very low (even for #2 grade). It is very difficult to find a piece that does not have significant defects that affect its structural integrity or usability. I am mainly referring to the pressure treated and non-treated building materials (2×12, 2x10, 2×4 etc.). On average 20-40% of the wood has significant defects. I only buy wood from here when I need it quick or only need a few pieces. I wish they would offer #1 grade as an alternative. I currently have a large deck project coming up and will be ording #1 grade lumber from from a local yard instead.
