Light pink tint is Douglas Fir that comes from out west. Withstands moisture very well and it’s extremely strong compared to eastern fir. It’s very dense for a softwood and does have distinct smell. It’s used in marine boat building as well.

I needed these studs to make a repair under my 105 year old flat roof. There was a soft spot that I was able to reach from a crawl space opening. The picture shows the support that I put in to make that spot very solid. These studs were straight and true, and it made the job quite successful.

Actually straight for a good price
I've bought about 40 boards of this lumber now. I am here to leave this review because I am truly impressed how straight and well cut these are. There were very few pieces on the shelf that I rejected for knots or defects and none that were warped on the sales rack, which is a rarity in my experience (there's usually one in a stack at least). For the price point of under $4 this is an excellent purchase. I built x2 8 foot workbenches with it and had no rejected pieces. Please keep stocking these Home Depot!!

A few of the boards were a little warped and they were very dry and split when I placed a screw in the board. I even pre-drilled the board. Not sure what the issue was. There is a lot of knots in the wood also and really rough surfaces.

Used these 2’x4’x8’ to make some patio chairs, table and a couple of ottomans. The would was true to size with limited number of knots. Highly recommend this lumber for your next wood working project.

                    terrible lumber…

random terrible quality leads to costly problems.
Installed 150 of them early last week. Straight, level, perfect. Plumber and electrician did rough Thursday and Friday. Over the weekend it was hot weather. Today I show up on the job to find 25% were a half inch out of straight, 10% were over 1" out of straight, and 3 of them were a full 1.5" out of straight. There was NO telling that this was going to happen to any particular stud. Pic of one of the worst offenders. Now I need to uninstall 20+ studs with water and electric in.
