Answer This Question

A:  You can sand and paint it but you will never truly gat a smooth surface. This type of pressure treated wood has a surface covered with indentations caused by the injection of chemicals to help prevent it from rotting and make it resistant to wood eating bugs. If you are looking for a smooth finish try redwood. It is naturally resistant to the elements and insect activity.

A:  Sanding pressure treated wood is not recommended, it releases toxic dust into the air. Try using Trex synthetic lumber, it needs no painting and is pest resistant. Mike

I purchased this lumber to re-deck my 16' trailer. I was pleased with the lumber and the fact it was mostly straight with minimal warping that is common with pressure treated lumber.

I special ordered 14' 2x6 s and the quality of the product is terrible. Most are straight and not twisted, but they managed to hide in the shipment a board that is missing half of its edge and has HUGE knots in the same edge, that make the use of that board almost impossible. I blame the supplier for the bad quality and believe that Home Depot should inspect these orders before they release them to their customers.(reflects badly on them) Suggestion is to only go to the store and select your own lumber or demand that you inspect your special order shipment BEFORE you accept delivery. Very disappointed and now worried that another order that I made before finding this out may be the same way. I WILL inspect before accepting the order.
