Can you please include the COST of this board on your web site?

It was $6.

Why does the 2x8 measure 7.375 wide and not 7.25?

When sheething is put on it takes it to 8. Plywood is no longer in "normal" th thickness any longer either. Plus that small fraction of wood adds up to more lumber in the end when millions of boards are cut.

Can this board be used for outside garden use? Also, can you cut the boards into 4 foot lengths for me?

It would need to be treated somehow (stained, painted) as this is not meant for ground contact in its current state. HD does cut wood for you but they may charge you if you need a bunch cut

Is this 8ft piece 5.98 total or per foot?

Let me begin this review with a little background. I needed a 2" x 8" x 8' board to mount the tension spring for my new garage door. I was a little nervous at first because I could not find any reviews for the 2 in. x 9 in. x 8 ft. #2 and Better Prime Douglas Fir Board online. So when I walked into my Home Depot, I was "going in blind." I mean, seriously, what did I know about this board? Sure, I new its dimensions, and that it was from a Douglas Fir tree. But where had this tree grown? Alaska? Canada? Oregon? West Virginia? Who knows? So that had me a bit anxious already. And then there were more unanswered questions. How will this board handle me trying to pre-drill holes so I could bolt it to the 2"x4' framework in my garage? And after I drill these holes, what if I change my mind and want to use 5" wood screws instead of bolts? Will it split if I don't drill the holes big enough? But before I could even THINK about any of that, I was going to have to cut the board with my miter saw. My garage door width is not a perfect 8 feet. It was like 7 feet 4" or something like that. How was this board going to handle my 10" miter saw blade with 24 carbide teeth? Would it splinted along the cut, or would it be smooth? When I measure and mark for cuts and drilling, how will this board handle the lead from the pencil? Will pencil lines hold up and stand out? Will there be a nice contrast with the wood, easy for my eyes to see? Well, there was NO WAY to have answers to any of those questions. Why? There were no existing reviews for me to seek guidance from. All I could to was measure, pray, mark, pray, cut, pray, drill and pray. I'm delighted to report that ally my praying really paid off. I was able to measure this wood, mark this wood, cut this wood and drill this wood with the only difficulties and roadblocks being my own lack of woodworking skill. The board is installed, and waiting for my new garage door to arrive. The board has so far met and exceeded all of my expectations. I highly recommend this board.
