Questions & Answers

Is this compatible with cvpc pipes?
ByMar 16, 2026

Answer This Question

This water stop can be used with CPVC pipe but it would require a 3/8" brass MIP adapter. Since CPVC is not common in 3/8" size you would be better off using a 1/2" FIP water stop and a 1/2" CPVC X 1/2" brass MIP adapter. We also offer a glue on CPVC water stop - G2PR19X C1 If you need a better explanation, please contact technical support at 877-272-7755. Thanks

can the valve be used on Plex A or B with the compression ring that the valve comes with, so I don't have to buy any special tool for plex pipe.

    Answer This Question

This valve is a 3/8" FIP of female iron pipe inlet. This would be used with a 3/8" nipple of a 3/8" MIP adapter. If you are trying to install on PEX A or PEX B without special tools I would recommend our push to connect water stop- G2PS19X C1. Thanks

A 13/16" or 7/8" open end wrench or you can just use a standard adjustable wrench. Thanks

Your answer to tell me to call 877-277-7755. The number is an AI voice ads, not BrassCraft. I saw that this same number were also given to others posts as well. Shame on you.

You can find this by looking up the dimensions of 3/8" NPT via Google. The answer is 18 threads per inch. Here's a link to the chart. https://torqbolt.com/npt-threads-national-tapered-pipe-threads-dimensions-specifications

It should be. Remove the screw and pull the handle. The valve stem should be symmetrical and allow flipping.

To piggyback this valve on an existing BrassCraft shut-off valve that no longer shuts off, can the 3/8 FIP inlet of this valve connect properly to the the 3/8 OD compression outlet on the old one? Both are 3/8 inch, but is the thread on the FIP inlet compatible with the thread on the male compression outlet?

Hi James, Thank you for your question. If your original installed shut off valve is has reached it's useful life, we recommend replacing the entire shut off with a new one. We really would require more information to determine what your application is. Please contact our Customer Support Team at 877-277-7755 and reference this review.

No, one is 3/8" national pipe thread and the other is a 3/8" compression fitting for tubing or a flexible hose. They are quite different.

15 Years and the valve stem falls off.
Installed these 15 years ago. Went to turn the cold water off under the bathroom sink and the valve handle breaks off in my hand. The valve stem is completely rusted out. The rest of the body and valve look ok but really? The one part you don’t want to fail is made of cheap non stainless metal. If you install these check on them from to time. Replaced both the cold and hot water valves because of this. Could have caused a small flood.

The compression ring and nut were missing out of one of the boxes, but we didn't need them and had them installed this weekend and they worked great. The real test, as always, how long will it last and will it work when we actually have to use it to shut odd the water to the vanity?

These are a must have if you are going through the process of replacing any faucet or vanity. These are a great replacement for those old crummy multi-turn valves that leak after a few years, or sometimes even few uses. If you can remember "righty tighty", you can easily install these yourself.
