About This Product

Use these MSI Emperador Split face Brown Marble Mesh-Mounted Mosaic Tile indoors to create a unique effect with your decor. The tile measures and are natural stone wall tiles with an unglazed finish. The water absorption rate on the tiles is less than 0.5%. Note: Inspect all tiles before installation. Natural stone products inherently lack uniformity and are subject to variation in color, shade, finish etc. It is recommended to blend tiles from different boxes when installing. Natural stones may be characterized by dry seams and pits that are often filled. The filling can work its way out and it may be necessary to refill these voids as part of a normal maintenance procedure. All natural stone products should be sealed with a penetrating sealer.

Does a wet saw have to be used to cut the tiles? Is there another option? Also, it says tile needs to be grouted but I do not see any spacing for grout within the tile? Do you mean between the actual 12 x 12 sections?
            ByMar 10, 2023
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

I used a wetsaw. You could possibly get away with a grinding blade and circular saw. The only grout I used was to set it to the Sheetrock.  Grout not needed between the tiles.

Cheap wet saw will work. I also used SpeedSet 25 lb. Gray Fortified Thinset Mortar. One thing I learned lay out your pieces and dry fit them and have them ready before mixing mortar cause it started drying before I was done.

When at the store this was the closest tile that I liked for the look I was going for. But since I did not want it a foot wide we cut it in half. Turned out great!

I was looking for a mosaic tile that would make a nice backsplash for a new guest bathroom countertop and lavatory, and wanted something I could do myself with minimal stress. The countertop material is a beautiful natural quartzite, mined in Brazil, and I wanted something for the backsplash that looked appropriately classy. These natural stone (marble) sheets were our choice. I'm a total beginner with this, but after watching a few youtubes, I felt confident enough to go ahead. I rented a small wet saw from Home Depot, and did buy a new diamond blade for it, as I wanted to give myself every break. The sheets were VERY easy to cut, no chipping, no pulling. I did follow a youtube piece of advice: wrap a wide band of tape, clear or blue painters, tightly around the sheet, so my cut would go right down the middle, supposedly without chipping the little tiles or veering off. It seemed to work, but of course, I didn't try it without it, so I can't say that was absolutely necessary. I sealed the tiles with a matte stone sealer; this was easy to do with the tiles lying flat, but would have been much harder if I'd waited til after they were on the wall. For the adhesive, I used gray thinset after reading that white material might ooze through the tile joints and spoil the appearance. The tile strips all fit together very nicely. I wanted the top of the tiles to have a smooth finished edge, so I used an aluminum Shluter trim piece that matched the new faucets. With this tile, there is no grouting, just caulking under the bottom edge. My husband and I are really happy with the results. And we saved money (although I'm sure a professional could have done it in a fraction of the time). Definitely a great product, and no problems with installation if you do some homework before you start.

Opted to cover a whole wall by my fireplace with this tile. The contractor had to cut around a fireplace mantel, and he did not have any problems with the tile while doing this. No grout needed for the front, so not a big mess when installing. I really love the look of this tile.
