Does a Dremel mandrel fit on the Milwaukee?
        ByJan 25, 2026
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Yes. The Milwaukee M12™ Rotary Tool uses a 1/8" collet and is compatible with all standard rotary tool accessories that have shank sizes between 1/32" and 1/8". This includes most Dremel mandrels and accessories, as they typically fall within that range.

Would this tool be good for cutting wood for crafts? if not, what tool would be best?

          Answer This Question

First OMT I received did not have the bolt or adapter. I did an exchange, but still not adapter in box. A universal adapter is definitely needed for other accessories. The website product description (and the manual) states it is included. Where is it??!!

Can this be used like a rotozip and does the rotozip bit fit on this?
            ByJun 16, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Hey, Christian. Yes, the Milwaukee M12 12V Lithium-Ion Cordless Rotary Tool can be used similarly to a RotoZip for various cutting, grinding, sanding, and polishing applications. The tool features a powerful motor that delivers 5,000-32,000 RPM, making it suitable for tasks typically performed by a RotoZip. Regarding compatibility with RotoZip bits, the M12 Rotary Tool includes a 1/8" collet and is compatible with standard collet sizes of 1/32", 1/16", and 3/32" (sold separately). If the RotoZip bits fit within these collet sizes, they can be used with the M12 Rotary Tool.

Does the cutting blade that comes with this tool need an adapter? The instructions are very unclear. The diagram of the tool shows an adapter but there is no such thing on the tool.

These tools are great. Super handy to use and run well on the 12V batteries. The collet is rather delicate and easy to bend.

First time I went and picked it up it was missing a piece, not like an in-box piece but straight up they didn't assemble the whole front casing. it was just bare bearings and motor.. Like, what? New in box! Took it back to home depot and after a short bit they figured it out and I got a new one.

                Critical design flaw
Bought this a while ago, when cutting some flooring the battery terminal post snapped off inside the battery. Sent it in for a warranty repair and the same exact thing just happened again... Now it's out of warranty and the repair will be the same as buying a brand new one. Clearly a bad design. Used my neighbors yellow version of this tool and it was way nicer and worked way better but I have so many Milwaukee batteries that I'm reluctant to switch systems.

                  Trash
I used this tool one time in the year that I’ve had it. I bought a small tool box to store the tool and accessories and that’s pretty much where it lived its whole life. I needed it recently and when I picked it up I heard something fall off of it. The tiny pieces of metal inside the collet fell out. They appeared to be sheared off. I used the supplied cutting wheels to make a small hole in a hollow door. My utility knife could have done what I used it for but wanted to play with my new toy. Apparently that was too much for it?

Worst customer service in the industry!
2407-20 drill. Drill quit after 10 minutes of use. Milwaukee says it's still under warranty, but service center says it isn't. Service center wants $105.00 dollars to replace the switch and a new drill is 89.00. Milwaukee won't send me a switch, so I now have a 90 dollar paper weight. The switch is available but with tax and shipping it's $75 bucks. I'm 70 years old and pretty much use a drill to hang a picture or replace a fence board. I'll go buy a Ryobi before I do business with Milwaukee again. Horrible company!

                      Poorly made
This is a loud poorly made version of the tool made famous by fein. The oscillation mechanism is loud and internally sloppy, which results in inconsistent motion at the blade or sanding head. The m12 battery is poorly moulded, this means that the battery is not well retained, I had a 3.0 fall out cracking the battery housing. The tool was part of a kit, so expectations were low, either way, not up to the standard of other m12 Milwaukee tools I own. ☹️

I have been a Dremel brand user for about 30 years, in that time span I’ve only worn out (2) tools. So longevity wise they have been great. I am a Milwaukee tool fan for the most part so I thought I would give the M12 a chance, my personal favorite is the Fuel M18 line. Trying out my new Milwaukee rotary tool was eye opening quality Proformance, very smooth operation and less noise. A very nice upgrade!

Not worth the money compared to competitors
I bought this tool as I am trying to transition from a heavy dewalt ecosystem into Milwaukee. This tool is worse than every other multi tool I own from multiple brands. The speed control is very poor and any tool that requires a tool to use it in these days it's not worth it in my opinion. Requires a loose Allen wrench that Can't be stored on the tool instead of a tool free blade change.
