What are the overall dimensions of the packing this shower door kit comes in?
The DreamLine Unidoor Plus 46.5 to 47 in. x 72 in. Frameless Hinged Shower Door is shipped in multiple packages to ensure safe delivery. The largest package, containing the door glass, measures approximately 32 inches in width by 76 inches in height. Additional packages include a smaller glass box of similar height and a hardware box approximately 74 inches in length. How do you open the door from the inside? There's only one handle and it's on the outside of the door.
There is a sizeable knob on the interior-facing side of the glass and you will be able to grab this knob to push the door open to exit or to pull the door shut after you have entered the shower. Does this door swing inward and outward?
The DreamLine Unidoor Family of shower doors now feature adjustable hinges, allowing you to choose if you would like the door to open inward or outward. The hinges come to you pre-set by the factory to open outward, which is the recommended position. Should you choose to adjust the hinge to open inward, you will need to change the orientation of the vinyl piece that the door closes against, installing the flange on the outside of the shower. Instructions will be included with the hinge for changing the orientation of the swing. A simple adjustment is all that it takes to allow the door to open inward. Is the actual door really only 23in wide? That seems extremely narrow for the whole unit being nearly 4ft feet wide.
The door is actually 24" wide and is a very commonly sized door for shower enclosures. If you would like a larger moving panel, our Custom Glass Group would be happy to make the door in the proportions you would like. If you are truly at 46-1/2" at the top, middle and bottom of your opening, we would recommend the 46-1/2 to 47" door. Are these heavy hinged doors desinged to work on fiberglass shower stalls?
DreamLine shower doors are not designed for use on molded fiberglass shower enclosures. All DreamLine shower/tub doors and enclosures require smooth, solid finished walls, true 90° angles where the wall meets the threshold, and finished walls that are at least as tall as the shower/tub door or enclosure. If the walls of your fiberglass enclosure have any give or flex to them when you push on the wall, most likely there is a pocket of dead space behind the wall and the wall is not solid. Please make sure that your shower/tub meets these requirements for installation before making your choice.
