No, the DWFP71917 does not automatically stop firing when empty; it does not have a dry-fire lockout feature .

As long as the Boston nails are 16-gauge straight finish nails, they should work fine.

Do i need to buy something else in order to use this?
The finishing nailer would require an air hose as well as a connected air compressor to work. The hose and compressor would be sold separately.
