Good unit but the speakers and lighting install are rough… I hope they never fail as you will need an access panel outside your shower in your ceiling that you can reach the nut on the lights and screws on the speaker if you ever want to replace them. In my case, that is not an option.

This is the first steam unit I've purchased. It works fine and heats up the steam room in about 15 minutes. Their customer service is great should you have any questions like I did. For sure they helped us select the correct size unit. Moreover, the company representatives were always patient and very helpful. We have used it probably 10 times already and we have had no issues to date.

When the box arrived a was a little worried, it was a bit beat up. Everything inside seemed to have survived unscathed. I was surprised they would sell a package that is still short of the items you need to install the unit. The unit itself is nice enough and seems to be built well. The accessories have a nice chrome finish and all of the wiring needed to attach them is included in the box. You will need an electrician nad possibly a plumber depending on your level of knowledge. You may also have an issue if this will be installed as part of a larger job that requires an inspection. This unit has no certification codes listed on it anywhere. Steam Spa says it is UL listed and they will provide you with the number upon request, but this is not always good enough for some inspectors. This should be clearly posted on the unit. I have not istalled this unit yet so I can not attest to its functionality, but I have high hopes as it will be used in one of my green houses to help provided the tropical environment I need for the plants.

In preparation for a total remodel of our master bath, we decided to convert our conventional shower to a steam shower, leaving the traditional wet shower in place, and adding a steam component. It’s a rather large stall, so we opted for this larger size model. Getting the area ready will take some time, so I thought I’d share some initial observations about this product. I’ve done some research, as well as examined the product and the components that arrived with it. This unit measures 15W x 9.5 H x 17L, so it will fit comfortably under our vanity adjacent to the shower. There are 2 keyed holes in the back side from which to hang the unit above the ground. It weighs just 27lbs although the copper plumbing you use, will add a few pounds to that. The manufacturer recommends the generator be situated as close to the steam area as possible. The component cables are proprietary, and I don’t know whether additional wire lengths are readily available, so it will be important to bear this in mind when planning the location of the two touch control pads, overhead light and temperature sensor, particularly because it may be necessary to route cable around studs, walls and other obstacles. Cables included: 1. Two short length hardwired cables terminated with pin connectors exit the side of the generator. These are for connection to (A) 20 ft heavy gray cable that connects to a cable at the first touch control pad, (13-pin connector), and (B) 27 ft lightweight gray cable (2-pin connector) hardwired to the “Chroma” light fixture. 2. Three hardwired cables exit the backside of the first touch control pad. These are (A) 16 inch heavy gauge gray cable that mates to the sister 13-pin connector coming from the generator (#1 above), (B) 2 ft small gauge 4-pin black cable, that mates to an identical sister cord that is hardwired to second control pad (#3 below), and (C) 11-1/2 ft small gauge black cable that is hardwired at its end to a 1” temperature sensor. 3. A single 42” small gauge 4-pin black cable (with connector), hardwired to the second control pad (#2 above). 4. An extra 80-inch small gauge black 4-pin connector cable for optional use to extend the length between the first and second control pads. The kit comes with an overhead “Chroma Light” fixture, a water softener/filter, 2 Digital Touch Pads and 2 Brushed Nickel steam heads (see pictures). On their face, these seem to be well-fabricated components using quality materials. For example, the exterior case of the digital pad is a hard-plastic so it won’t rust. The steam heads appear to be gleaming stainless steel with a nickel patina. The Chroma light fixture, 1-1/2” in diameter, is intended for installation through a hole in the ceiling, and secured by a screw-ring. The wiring quick-connectors snap together firmly and are well-designed to prevent moisture seepage (although all wiring should outside the environment of the steam room itself anyway). Obviously, the end user must supply their own electric power cables/boxes/etc and copper or brass plumbing supply lines to meet their own room specs. I was interesting to see that packaged with the product was an offer sheet for a “Complete Essentials Kit” at $149. Apparently, this kit includes additional valves/gauges, steel flex hoses, unions/quick releases and elbows. Why these “essentials” are not included with the product is a bit of a mystery, if they're truly essential. I am an avid DIY, having remodeled many baths, complete with fancy tile and the installation of plumbing fixtures, new walls, shower niches, etc. I usually contract the rough plumbing to qualified professionals, and I’m debating the extent to which I will attempt to complete some of the installation of this product. I would really like to try it but will first consult with a professional. The diagrams and schematics included with the “User Guide” are fairly complete, but to gain a firmer understanding, I did a “dry run” by connecting the electrical components (see picture). To their credit, the manufacturer provides quick-connector fittings for each component that are UNIQUE, so it is virtually impossible to mis-wire something. In other words, the cable for the temperature sensor, has a different quick-connection than the cable for the touch pad -- so it's not possible to connect the wrong cable to the wrong component. Although I did open the generator cover (and discovered a wiring schematic inside the cover - see picture), it turned out to be unnecessary to open the unit. All required connections except the connection to the house wiring are made on the outside the generator unit. The manufacturer’s site included a "resources," tab which led to additional copies of the pdf manual supplied with the product, but no installation video. Having such a video to show key elements of the installation would be helpful to a DIY like me that might want to tackle some or all of the installation themselves. Still, I am quite impressed with the quality of materials and the way this product is prepared for installation. Although I have yet to complete installation, I am confident enough in what I see to give it an excellent grade. Installation won't be easy, -- not because of poor design, but simply because custom installations require a lot of work and planning. I will update this review when my installation is completed.

For the money, this unit is well built. The tank is welded stainless as is much of the tubing. The fixtures are brass which will last a long time. The exterior of the unit is well marked so it is easy to identify the plumbing ports. The instructions are pretty straight forward and simple enough to follow. You will need a few plumbing fittings and accessories to complete the installation but the unit does come with a pressure relief valve which is a nice bonus.

Quickly gets you all steamed up ! My unit arrived quickly but the box suffered somewhat on it's journey to my future oasis and so a few super important components were gone walkabout. This afforded an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with SteamSpa's customer service. A few pictures and a follow up phone call got the needed missing items headed to me within a few hours. Installation is straight forward and within the skill set of most accomplished DIYers, especially if the electrical and plumbing supplies are setup by licensed professionals. Brass connectors and solid construction are obvious quality points and pre-wired plug in controls make finishout simple. This unit is available with several power levels and it seems to me the only difference or benefit between the levels, is the amount of time required to get all steamy. This unit is 9kw and on the higher end of power, so for my 100 square foot oasis, it is very fast to the cloudzone. Quality construction, quick installation, great customer service and fast steam make the SteamSpa a no brainer.

Steam Spa Well, this kits is just about complete, you will need some install supplies either available from the Manufacture ,your local Home Depot , most plumbers can also supply them . Ok this kit really isn’t a easy install for the DYI , lots of planning needs to be considered, Plumbing, electrical, along with some advanced skills , tile work, carpentry amount just a few. You will need space for the steam unit that has access to water, electric, drain line access . Planing is key! The kit parts quality is very good well conceived and manufactured along with being complete . The extra items needed to install are for individual locations and conditions. This kit does include water filter, control panels, nozzles, connection cables ,12KW steam unit ,led light really very complete. Instruction book can give you lots of information for the install and to decide if you can install this on your own or hire the trades to get it done. Not really a retro kit but more a for new install. Good value for a quality system

This product is sub par. Parts break monthly. Their tech support is HORRENDOUS. Don’t buy the steam spa steamer.
