What is the actual size of the opening for the post? Is it 5 x 5 actual or nominal? The vinyl posts are 5 x 5 actual, I think Thanks
The product description indicates that this post cap fits a **nominal** 5x5 post size. It also states that an adapter ring is included to fit 4.25-inch posts. Therefore, the actual opening size is slightly larger than 5x5 to accommodate the adapter for smaller posts. Since your vinyl posts are 5x5 actual, this post cap should fit with no issues.
Does the cap fit inside the post or outside dimensions of the post?
What is the actual inside dimension of the post? I have posts that are 3 7/8 inch.
This post cap is designed to fit a 4x4 inch nominal post size. Please note that nominal sizes are not the same as actual sizes. A 4x4 post typically measures 3.5 x 3.5 inches. Since your posts are 3 7/8 inches, this post cap will likely be too large.
will this product fit over my 5 x 5 vinyl fencing with rounded corners ??
This post cap is designed for a 5x5 nominal post size. It includes an adapter ring to fit 4.25" x 4.25" posts. Whether it will fit your vinyl fencing with rounded corners depends on the exact dimensions of your posts. If the widest part of your rounded post is larger than 5 inches, it likely won't fit. If it's smaller than 5 inches but larger than 4.25 inches, it may fit using the included adapter. For the best fit, measure the actual dimensions of your post and compare them to the product specifications.
I am looking for a cap to fit a metal tube that is approx 4.25" x 4.25" on the outside dimensions. The description states that the "included adapter ring" allows the cap to be mounted on a 4.25" post. Does that mean that the cap will fit on an exact 4.25" x 4.25" post?
I read this description and had the same question. I interpreted the description as the adapter would make it fit an actual 4.25"x4.25" post. I bought the cap, and the adapter will make it fit an actual 4.5"x4.5" post, which is not what I need.
I need this cap to fit a full 6x6 post
Yes, this will fit a full actual 6x6 post.
