Why does the description say 700 lbs of torque and the specifications say 500 lbs of torque.

              Answer This Question

It may be 700lbs of breakaway torque and 500lbs of driving torque though my high torque wrench has 1300lbs of breakaway torque. Could be a typo.

Maybe because the specification say 500 but really getting 700

This is the one that I bought and the adapter if you want to use any 1/4” bits. I don’t have the part # but it’s easy to just google it.

This is a powerful impact wrench that is used primarily for drilling large holes with augers that have a 7/16” hex shank. It comes with a 7/16” quick release chuck. My husband uses this tool to drill 1” holes through 2x4 studs to run electrical wire. He has tried regular drills and a hammer drill but these can bind easily and give your wrists abrupt twist. With this tool, he can drill these 1” holes using one hand and avoid the binding. The drill/impact wrench has a fastening torque of 700 ft. lbs. and breakaway torque of 1200 ft. lbs. It also has an LED and speed control that adds to the ease of use for a variety of applications. A much better solution for us. We are exploring how it might also be used for smaller drill bits, screw driving and sockets. So far, we are finding that adapters for doing this are not common/plentiful and the adapters are not rated for use in impact applications. We believe and hope that in the near future this will change and we can use this impact tool for everything -- putting in screws, tightening bolts/nuts, and using drill bits of all types. When this happens, we think we will prefer this tool over any other drill type.

A TRUE POWERHOUSE SPECIALTY TOOL FROM DEWALT
This special purpose 7/16 inch quick release hex shank chuck impact wrench is one beast of a tool that tackles any fastening and wood boring task you put in front of it no matter how tough the job. The brushless high torque impact wrench is made exceptionally well and boasts the quality and performance you expect from Dewalt. The 20 volt MAX XR impact wrench has an efficient motor design, three speed switch to match application and includes two high capacity 5 Ah batteries for the longest run time. The 7/16 in. hex chuck makes it ideal for use by electricians or anyone else for boring large holes thru pressure treated 4" X4's, 6 X 6's , etc. Any 7/16 inch shanked auger bit or hole saw will work with this impact wrench and a 7/16" hex shank to 1/2 inch square socket adapter also allows it to be used with any impact rated 1/2 inch drive socket to fasten or remove lag bolts and nuts. The large bull ring allows the lifting and/or securing of tool especially when used up high by linemen on telephone poles for the installation and maintenance of power lines and more. This cordless tool is a great replacement for corded 7/16 inch impact wrenches. I have used this impact wrench to bore a 1 1/4" hole thru several 4 X 4 pressure treated posts for an upcoming project and I purchased an adapter to use with 1/2 inch drive sockets to loosen lug nuts, etc.

Really good very impressed .a little high Priced. Should have gotten it on the Christmas sale. The Light does not have an off and on switch, stays on for a while. I feel like it runs the Battery down a lot faster. I always take the battery out before I store it.
