How can it be cut? Will Home Depot cut pieces for me?

How can it be cut? Will Home Depot cut pieces for me?
Asked by: WonderWoman
I have an old kitchen table. So it's covered with a comforter. I laid a large sheet of cardboard over the area I was going to use. I laid out the material as close to the edges of the table as I could. I used Irwin adjustable wood clamps with quick release and rubber faces to clamp the back edges of the material down at the rear of the table. I then used a tape measure to find my length at 35.5 inches. To get the cut straight I used a Drywall framing square, kind of looks like a T Square, but metal. I clamped it down on the corners, (that's why as close to the edges of the table as you can get). When you clamp the piece down, check and recheck your measurements to make SURE your cuts will be the right distance and straight! I then pulled out my Dremel and experimented with the cutting blades, finally settling on a metal cutting blade/disc. It sliced through the plastic almost all the way to the end on the one side, (the corner of the Square that you're using to make sure the piece is squarely in position precludes finishing the side of the cut, but you can get pretty close.), and all the way on the other. After I unclamped I finished the cut and then used a grinding polishing bit to make it visually even. (Yes, I switched out the blade quickly for that attachment and then switched back.) I found that the Dremel cuts best on the high setting and you need to continually adjust your position to keep the blade parallel to the edge of the square. WEAR GOGGLES! As you release the clamps and pull the material out you'll notice really rough edges of melted plastic. Put on gloves and using your thumb and index finger reach past the edge and squeezing the material firmly, pull your fingers back to the edge and the plastic melt will crumble off and you'll have a nice clean edge. Rotate the piece and clamp it back down and repeat the process to get the proper width. My table was too long, so again, since I was close to the edges I was able to get 3 out of the 4 clamps on it to hold it steady as I placed the square back on that side and made my cuts. One on the material and 2 on the square. to shorten the length I had 2 on the material and 2 on the clamp, one at each end of the square and material. I tried and usually succeeded in getting at least a portion of the clamps I used to hold the square on a portion of the material. Clamp on the back side of the square, not the side you'll be cutting on. I hope this helps. I did 9 of these total and the project looks great, my wife is very pleased with the end result. Previously, we had painted the inside of the soffit with Zinser White Paint and installed 5K White Color/5K Lumens lights x 5 in the fixture. The Dressing Room is now as bright as a surgery suite. lol

Can these panels be screwed to wood framing?

Can these panels be screwed to wood framing?
Asked by: Cis
Yes, but you will need to drill pilot holes big enough for the screw to easily pass through it in the panel and not over tighten the screws as this will crack the panel.
