Answer

No, don't use galvanized for BBQ, as the metal will leach toxins into your food when heated. Look for ungalvanized.

I was concerned that this would be too rigid to bend and fit into my car. It is not, but by no means, is it flimsy. Sharp edges, and a bit difficult to cut. My Cutco scissors actually worked best, though I did get a blister and several small cuts. I suggest using leather gloves. I used this for roofing over my AC unit to keep out the neighbor's tree debris. Seems to be working well, without obstructing the air flow. Time will tell how it holds up. Considering buying more as pocket gopher shields for my plants. Not used as manufacturer intended, but worked very well for my purpose.
