We could use it to add a coat of paint and mold and fungi growth on the ceilings.
After the eye of hurricane "IDA" passed right over our home, with rains and winds of 150 mph, our roof leaked rain on our ceilings and stained them. [pic #1] The adjuster told us that only a painting contractor could paint the ceilings due to insurance regulations. He also told us that he would only authorize one coat of paint. We went to Home Depot to look for some paint to use after the painters finished their job. We found Buffalo Technology Group 3 1/2 oz. paint-guard mold prevention additive to treat 1 gallon of paint. [pic #2] We could use it to add a coat of paint and mold and fungi growth on the ceilings. [pic #3] We can and will mix it in to a gallon of water base paint. Now we are on hold until the painters can come to paint as the back log of work after a major hurricane is weeks long. We also picked up more bottles for painting the walls also. Please click helpful

Extra protection from mold and mildew.
We are redoing one of our bathrooms which is in a corner of our house against 2 outside walls. We've had water seep in before and although we've sealed the leaking areas we wanted to make certain there would be no chance for moisture to cause problems. That's when Paint-Guard Mold Defense Additive caught our eye. This small bottle (3.5 oz) contains a liquid that is added to a gallon of paint which helps protect against mold, mildew and bacteria. The ingredients are Lemongrass Oil and Zinc Oxide so it is not smelly but actually has a fresh scent. Easy to stir in and will not affect the color or texture of the paint. Hoping for that extra protection once the painting is complete. Four stars until we see how effective it is.

Excited about this product!
I guess time will tell how effective this product is, but I'm excited it exists. I have a home in Puerto Rico that is situated between the ocean and rainforest. This tropical and extremely humid location creates a constant battle against mold and mildew. It's wonderful to have an additive for paint to at least try to fight the elements from the get-go. It couldn't be easier to use. Simply pour the small bottle of liquid into your paint and stir it up. The product appears to be white. I'm not if the small amount could alter a color paint. I was using white paint, so it was not an issue for me.

Perfect for basement or garage areas
I got this to add to garage paint but I think I will probably add it to basement paint as well. It's easy to add to the paint so you have mold prevention where you need it. I suppose you could maybe mix this with water and apply it directly to cement walls but I'm not sure if it would work the same without the paint to bind it to the walls. It is a small concentrated bottle.

Essential to prevent mold from getting a foothold.
Many have run across this, got that spot where you have have had that one in a century rain and get that annoying wet spot on a wall or ceiling? Think you can just paint over it? Nope, guess again. Any moisture will bring mold, even the slightest, and it will leach it's way through your main. It will become that annual pain over routine. UNLESS you use a paint additive like this. Use it with new paint, and it helps prevent mold, use it when you repaint after, it helps deter it from coming back. Fix a leak, but don't forget to fix the mold. Start off your paint job right with a little preventative measure. An ounce of prevention, or in this case 3.5 ounces of.

Should be effective
The Buffalo Technology Paint Guard mold prevention additive is a useful product. Although I am very handy, I DON'T like to paint. I haven't used it yet, but am actually looking forward to painting in all three bathrooms so that I won't have to wash any walls to eliminate any mold/mildew and then repaint, and by using this product, WON'T HAVE TO PAINT as often! This bottle treats a gallon of paint.

Hard to review
Only time will tell how well this product works but I keep the faith in my Home Depot products. I do love how it comes in a pre-measured size that u just stir into a gallon of paint real good before using. I am adding this to some dry-lox paint that I will be painting my basement walls with in my laundry room. The product showed up in perfect condition and was properly shipped to my house

Good Mix
It's a little hard to review this product yet, so i'll have to do a follow up in a few months. This paint additive is supposed to prevent mold from growing. i have a problem with black mold growing on my garage walls. even when i wash with bleach, they seem to get funky after awhile. this additive treats one gallon of paint. it did not have any bad smell to speak of. it was actually a quite pleasing smell. it mixed into the paint effortlessly, and since the paint was white, it did not change it whatsoever (being that the additive is white). it did not make the paint any different, or make it harder to apply the paint with a roller. only time will tell if it works. i will update soon.
