Product Details

This is the most universal, thermostatically-controlled water deicer on the market. Keeps water available and ice-free in the winter months for all animals and pets. Can be used with aluminum and plastic Poultry Waterers, dog bowls, buckets and other water receptacles. Bottom is sealed to prevent unwanted pests from nesting. 5.5 ft. cord and molded handles make lifting and positioning the unit convenient. The Universal Deicer contains a TCO (Thermal-Cut-Off) that will automatically turn off the unit if it ever overheats. Talk about peace of mind. 80-Watt. MET listed. 2-year limited warranty.

A:  All K&H electrical products are MET certified. MET Mark on our product indicates national compliance which is the equivalent accreditations to UL and CSA. The MET mark clearly indicates compliance to US and Canadian requirements.

    A:  This does not have an on/off switch but it is thermostatically controlled so it turns on and off as needed.

        A:  There is not an off/on switch. The pads are thermostatically controlled to turn on and off as needed and are very energy efficient.

                      Must have for winter
                      [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased this to use for my pets, especially when spending time in snowy weather. I had already gotten the smaller K&H thermal dog bowl, which is also great, but this deicer is larger and creates a raised base, which I really like. It's a heated base you can sit larger bowls on. You can place aluminum or plastic bowls without worry. This deicer can be used for various animals, not just dogs. Plus, the thermostatically controlled design will turn on and off as needed per the weather, keeping the water thawed but never hot. Very happy with my purchase.

                        so nice to have for my flock!
                        [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am so thankful for this deicer. with it being winter time, I have been having to break ice daily and sometimes multiple times a day so my chickens will have water to drink. this deicer just plugs in and keeps their water at a cool lukewarm temperature. No more breaking ice!!!

                          [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My dogs love playing outside in the snow. They love that water is still available to them even when it's freezing out. I wish it didn't have to plug in but I get it. It's a little costly but overall I'd recommend if you have a lot of outdoor pets or like doing things in the yard with your pets.

                                Thermostat is set too high
                                I have 2 of these deicers. They work well when the temperature is cold but if it gets warm in the chicken coop, the deicer stats on. I was told that the thermostat is set for 60 degrees. That seems way too high. It should be set closet to 40 degrees.

                                  I've tried other pond de-icers over the years and this one is the first that didn't give me any trouble at all. The others would trip the electrical switch all the time.
