The bottom measurement is 45 7/8 in and the rest is 46 1/8. What size should I use and can any shims be put in if I use 45 1/2 to 46 in size
The DreamLine Unidoor Plus model you referenced is designed to fit finished openings between 45-1/2 in. and 46 in. wide. Since your measurements are 45-7/8 in. at the bottom and 46-1/8 in. higher up, part of your opening is slightly wider than the maximum 46 in. adjustment range for this door. Because frameless shower doors have tight tolerances, all measurements should fall within the specified range, and using shims to extend beyond that range is generally not recommended. In this case, you would likely need to consider the next size up to ensure the door fits and aligns properly.
on this particular model if the bottom is 39” 7/8 in the top is 40”1/4 will this fit that opening?
This model is designed to fit finished openings between 40-1/2 in. and 41 in. wide. Since your measurements are 39-7/8 in. at the bottom and 40-1/4 in. at the top, the opening is narrower than the minimum required width for this door. Although the unit allows some adjustment for walls that are slightly out of plumb, it cannot compensate for an opening that is overall too small. Because of this, this particular model would not be recommended for your opening, and a slightly smaller size would be a better fit.
Is this compatible to be installed as a curbless shower?

While the door itself does not include a threshold or bottom track—making it visually compatible with a curbless setup—the key consideration lies in the floor slope and waterproofing of the shower area. For a curbless installation, the floor must be recessed or properly sloped toward the drain to prevent water from spilling into the bathroom, as this door does not include any built-in water barriers or dams at the base. Additionally, DreamLine typically recommends pairing their doors with compatible DreamLine shower bases, which are not curbless.
How to measure for a hinged shower door
This Unidoor Plus model size will fit a finished opening that is between 45-1/2" - 46". To ensure a proper fit, you will need to first finish the opening completely and then take width measurements in at least 3 locations - the top, middle, and bottom width of the opening. Please make sure that all your measurements fall within the tolerances of the model because the width tolerances we provide for the Unidoor Plus are the absolute minimum and absolute maximum tolerances. Description says "self-closing" hinges. Does that also mean they are soft close?
The hinges for the Unidoor models are self-closing spring-loaded hinges and are not "soft closing" hinges. These hinges do not feature anything that will slow the momentum of the door and you will need to be careful not to let the door slam shut. The DreamLine Unidoor family of shower doors now feature adjustable hinges, allowing you to choose if you would like the door to open inward or outward. The hinges come to you pre-set by the factory to open outward, which is the recommended position. Should you choose to adjust the hinge to open inward, you will need to change the orientation of the vinyl piece that the door closes against, installing the flange on the outside of the shower. Instructions will be included with the hinge for changing the orientation of the swing. A simple adjustment is all that it takes to allow the door to open inward.
