As is no, you will need to waterproof it or use a liner or both. There are several water proofing / Marine products on Home Depot that you could use.

Does it really weigh 16 pounds? Seems like alot
I'm pretty sure it is 16lbs, I've never put it on the scale but it is really heavy. It is also huge, takes up a lot of space but it is beautiful and quite the statement piece. I love mine.

Some do! Each one is hand cast. The shell is solid and depending on the mix of the gypsum and the amount of gypsum used. There are variations.

Do all come in the same shape or they vary in shape? I received mine, but it's 20" wide. I wish it were more "rounded". Did I just receive one that is that shape?
One&one shape
I believe they’re pretty much all the same shape because they’re made of plaster from the mold of an actual shell. But nobody can tell that it is not real. I made it into a centerpiece with succulents and I’m extremely happy with it. One very minor defect, I had to glue a little marble on the bottom to prop it up to the position I wanted.
These shells are made of plaster in a mold. They are all the same size and shape.
The Clam Shells all come with the same shape, there is no variation.
My guess is there's only one mold. I was surprised it's shallower than my real clam shell & my really nice fake one. But, it's so incredibly realistic (especially the inside of the shell) I love it.

It is what I refer to as a large clam shell not a giant clam shell, great size for a coffee table or credenza display, if you're looking for more of a visual effect for the size I'll post pictures. My coffee table is very large and my credenz a is 6 ft.
