You can't.

When I bought mine for $189 last year it had everything including the attachment, I didn't know there was an option to buy without the attachment, to be honest. Have you reached out to Ryobi to see if they sell the attachment separately?

Don't buy it. Mine didn't last 2 full pool cleanings. the switch quit working. Sometimes it would just turn on and run by itself, Sometimes it wouldn't start at all... Do yourself a favor and walk away.

This does not seem to be available any more. It has been months since it was in stock. Has this product been discontinued?

Answer This Question

I bought two because the first one broke. The second stopped working just like the first. I then called company. They said there was an issue with the switch and it was malfunctioning. They probably stopped making them to work out the issue. Then they will put back on the market. Just wait or buy something else.

I would hope so seeing how it is poor quality and I have never said that about a Ryobi product before.

Call the manufacturer and they do not have parts for it. Looking for a third party company or a size that I can order to replace my leaky one.

Hi Ben - parts for this product are available online. I searched for Ryobi P3500 (the model number) and found a couple of outlets with parts and specifically the battery compartment seal - part # HM-019753001003. Hope this helps.

Will this product work in a 2 foot deep pond?
    ByJun 7, 2020
    4 Answers |
    Answer This Question

No because the pool vac only works on pool with a smooth even bottom, ponds do not have a smooth even botton. Mike

    By|Aug 11, 2020

It would work as far as the size. The air vents have to be covered with water for it to work. You may have to tilt it substantially to cover the vents. The suction on this product was terrible in my experience, and as with many other customers the on/off switch failed quickly.

    By|Jun 10, 2020

If the pond is a "Water" pond...why not.

    By|Jun 24, 2020

I don't think so being it needs to be fully submerged in order to work and it's almost 2 foot long. If you can keep it submerged by angling it, it may work.

    Three in four years.
Great concept, poor execution. I bought the first one and it quit working after the warranty period. I purchased a second and it stopped working before the warranty expired. Here I am with two out of warranty pieces of plastic.

      buyer beware
Wouldnt come on after a year. Called ryobi, they sent me a refurbished one. It worked a week and then it wouldnt shut off. Had to remove the battery for it to turn off. Called the back and they said sorry it only has a year warranty. This is worst ryobi experience ive ever had. Bad switch and seal design because i took it apart after they told me they woudnt do anything and found rust in the motor compartment and a seal that was brittle. The switch is a magnetic contact but their magnet isnt strong enough to engage the contactor. Save your money and buy another brand

        No Replacement parts!
I received this as a Father's day gift. The first year it work good but when I pulled it out to use it the second year the seal for the battery box started to leak and fried the battery, when I called they would replace the battery but would not replace the seal or the unit because I did not have a receipt even though I registered it as soon as I got it. Now it is just a boat anchor.

Battery area never fully seals, ruins battery after first use.
TLDR; Water will always get in the battery area despite assuring everything is closed and “sealed” properly. Don’t waste money on it, or an additional $80 battery. My boyfriend bought this vacuum for me as a nice little present because he knew I really wanted it. When we got it the box had looked it was opened and returned. We were immediately concerned about that but shrugged it off. I know exactly why it was returned now. Using it the first time was great, it did a really really good job of getting all the dirt and debris, it was exactly what we wanted, totally worth the money at that point. Towards the end of the cleaning it died though, we figured it just needed a charge. We pulled it out of the water and noticed there was water in the battery area. Uh-oh right. We made sure everything was sealed and closed properly before getting it in the water as well. We get out and put it on the charger. Nothing. We put the battery itself in a charger and guess what, the battery was defective!! Woohoo, another $80 later we’re thinking ok maybe it was just the battery or maybe we weren’t careful enough. I’ve waited almost a month to clean the pool again since it’s been covered up. Finally get a chance to clean the pool, got the new battery in, got the vacuum, got everything sealed up. Get in, start cleaning, lasts 10 minutes before it dies. I think, maybe it wasn’t fully charged, since it’s been sitting for a bit. Take it out. THERE’S WATER IN THE BATTERY AREA. Guess how mad I was. I can 100% see why this item was returned and has mediocre reviews. Every time you want to use the thing, you have to buy a new battery!!! 100% incredibly disappointed and very, very mad. I also can’t return this item myself because the card used to purchase it is no longer active and I don’t have a receipt. My dumb mistake there. Overall, not worth a single penny.

Honestly this is disappointing... Hate using a regular pool vac because it clogs the filter... So I find this and I'm like this is too good to be true... It's like a dirt devil for your pool sweet... Well... I got it set up and I have to say I was impressed off the bat... The non contact charger wall mount was a nice touch... Overall I have to say I really like everything about the design and ease of use... An oaf could easily break it, and there's definitely some material quality issues with the rubber wheels, idk where or how to buy more, but luckily I don't have too... It lasted for one session, cleaned out the dust bin a few times washing the filter each time; it did the job better than expected actually, and nothing went into my filter; I was really impressed... But that was all she wrote... It won't re charge... For a company that sells $80 batteries you'd think they would've figured out the batteries part of the thing. MODEL: #P3500K pool vacuum

              works great in a pool
Used it to vac the small stones that got into my pool after power washing. I was surprised at the other crap it sucked up. You have to use some muscle to push the vac down so it makes contact with the floor and corners. Much easier for me to use this for the spots i see that my dolphin ignores.

Save your money for somethinhg better
I was VERY disappointed with this product! The good thing about it is, like all Ryobi tools, it is of excellent craftsmanship, and I can use my Ryobi 1+ batteries which make it a wonderful tool, and the main reason I bought it, since I already own between 20 and 25 Ryobi 1+ tools, but unfortunately, it is the WRONG tool for this particular job! First of all, it is SUPER HEAVY! I had been using a Pool Blaster Catfish, which weighs only a fraction of what this tank does, in fact, the Ryobi weighs 3 times as much! Then, when it comes to reinstalling the canister after you empty it, you need three hands, since the canister is hard to line up with the main body of the vacuum! Next is the price. I paid less than half for my Catfish with accessories than this tool alone cost me, which leads me to my third problem with this vacuum. I measured the diameter of the intake hole on this, and got 1 1/8". The Catfish, though a smaller machine, has a larger opening of 1 1/4". It's not a lot of difference, but enough to matter when trying to get something other than sand and grit off the bottom! The Catfish will get some smaller leaves, but if you want to do that with the Ryobi, it's going to cost you an extra $19.98 to get the leaf attachment! Another thing - The Catfish came with 3 extra bags, but if you want extras with this, you're out another $17.25 - and that's for ONLY TWO!!! All in all, by time I was done, the price for me jumped from the already high $189, to just under $250 with tax, since I went ahead and bought the leaf attachment and two extra bags! For those of you that have plenty of money I say, go ahead and buy it, but for the rest of us, there ARE better bargains than this out there!

I bought this product to use instead of my pool pump powered vacuum cleaner for the main reason that it never worked well. This vacuum works so much better and when I'm done I know the dirt is out of the pool because I dump it out of this. It can be used with an aluminum pole or by hand to spot vacuum. I would definitely recommend this. I wish I picked it up sooner.
