The Fairfield is a 20 in. square outdoor floor planter with a built-in self-watering reservoir that holds 1,120 oz. of water. It is molded from UV-resistant polyethylene in an espresso finish, with a double-wall design that insulates roots and slows moisture loss. The planter measures 20 in. H x 20 in. W x 20 in. D, weighs 13 lb., and holds 9.5 gal. (1.27 cu. ft.) of soil. It has a drainage hole and ships with a fill port plug, and no assembly is required. Covered by a 15-year residential warranty (5-year commercial). ## At 20 in. square, it suits a porch or covered patio where a single floor planter needs to sit beside a door without blocking the walkway. The 9.5 gal. soil capacity is enough for a large tropical houseplant, an ornamental grass, or a compact shrub. The 1,120 oz. reservoir also helps if you are away from home for several days at a time and cannot water on a daily schedule. ##

We recommend some kind of light fill, yes. Rocks/pebbles would work.
Drilling another hole compromises the reservoir and voids the warranty unfortunately.
Sure, absolutely!
Most of our planters come pre-drilled although sometimes people can get our older models without it being drilled, we include step by step instructions on how to install these holes if needed!
Its very dependent on the plant, I would say around 1-2 weeks during a high heat summer but the best way to figure it out is to do some tests. See how fast it gets dry and you'll be able to determine how long you can take between filling!
Yes of course!
Hello! For use in a windy area, we would recommend filling your planter with water (Essentially utilizing the self watering system) and/or using a thin layer of a heavier filler such as pea gravel.
You have to drill a hole on the top edge or back, according to the manufacturer’s website.
You will fill the water reservoir through the filport hole!
