Do you need to use Teflon tape?

Does anyone know if I need to use pvc glue to secure this on the pvc when I remove the sprinkler head. Thank you
PVC glue is not necessary. When capping off old unused sprinkler heads, I use these caps with a few wraps of Teflon tape. Never had a leak yet.
