About This Product

Makita, a pioneer in brushless motor technology and battery innovation, combines both in the 18-Volt X2 LXT (36-Volt) Lithium-Ion Brushless 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw (XSH06Z, tool-only, batteries and charger sold separately). It's powered by two 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum performance, and has an electronically-controlled BL Brushless motor that matches torque and RPM to the application. Makita 18-Volt X2 means freedom from the cord, even for demanding applications like cutting sheet and dimensional lumber that traditionally called for a corded saw. Best of all, users can remain in 1 battery platform, using the same fast-charging 18-Volt batteries with the XSH06Z as they use across the expansive Makita 18-Volt LXT cordless tool system. The XSH06Z has a long list of features for efficient cutting without the cord. The electronically-controlled brushless motor delivers a full 6,000 RPM for efficient cutting, with Automatic Speed Change technology to adjust the cutting speed and torque under load for optimum performance. In internal testing, the XSH06Z made up to 600 cross-cuts per charge in 2X4 SPF lumber using 2 fully-charged 5.0 Ah batteries. Added features include a large 2-11/16 in. cutting capacity at 90, and an electric brake for maximum productivity. The saw has a die-cast magnesium base and blade guard with die-cast aluminum blade cover and motor housing, which combines durability with less weight (only 10.4 lbs. with batteries, sold separately).

Questions & Answers

Is it a worm drive , or a side wonder?
ByDec 23, 2024

Answer This Question

Thank you for your question, the XSH06Z is not a worm drive tool.

By|Jan 6, 2025

This saw uses a sidewinder drive system. A worm drive saw has the motor mounted in line with the blade, while a sidewinder has the motor mounted parallel to the blade.

Thank you for your question on the XSH06PT circular saw. The blade is located on the right-hand side of the saw. For a left-hand side blade try the XSH03Z. For more information, please refer to the following link https://www.makitatools.com/products/details/XSH03Z.

        Answer This Question

Yes you can charge both batteries at once.

        By|Nov 5, 2022

Yes, you can charge both batteries at the same time. That is the advantage of the larger charger.

          By|Nov 6, 2022

Yes, the kit comes with a double charger.

            By|Nov 3, 2022

Thank you for your question on the DC18RD charger. This charger can charge two batteries at the same time.

              By|Nov 1, 2022

Yes, the charger has two charging stations so it will handle both batteries at the same time.

How is this shipped? Ordered twice and both times received an unsealed box with batteries flopping around against the saw and box damaged. It looks like someone went through the box and removed batteries and then threw them back in. Anyone?

When I purchased mine it was packed securely with everything packed tightly. Makita has changed some packaging and it's my guess they change the security on this package's contents. Sadly I think trying to cut expenses and costs is taking it's toll on everything.

Yes Home Depot usually sends this without any exterior packaging.  Sigh.  They do it with so many tools.

I bought mine in the store. The bag and charger were sealed in a plastic bag. The blade was oddly in the saw. The batteries were also oddly attached to the saw. I was concerned this was repackaged. The books weren't packaged in plastic either.

I have continued to purchase from HD because of there return policy, it’s awesome return it for full refund and not satisfied.

Thank you for your question on the XSH06PT dust extracting attachment. The part number is 911128-8 P.H.SCREW M4X16. This attachment attaches to the saw to allow connection to a vacuum hose for dust extraction.

The screw is 15mm long and an m4-0.7 diameter and thread pitch. The outside diameter of the dust attachment is 40mm or close to 1 1/2” and the inside diameter is around 34-35mm or l 3/8”. I have a Rockler Flexiport hose and the 1 1/2” coupler port that comes with it fits on the saw dust attachment. I’ve also used the same port coupler on my Festool track saw so it is probably a common size. I would contact Makita about the missing screw. They may send you one for free. I hope this helps.

Took my business to the next level!
For too long, I thought cord-less meant less-power. Let's get something straight... this has HEAPS of power, probably more than you will need. While there was a point in this technology's history where the runtime just could not measure up to its corded brethren, those times are long behind us. Of course, you don't get the unlimited runtime of corded, but do get something even more important; MANEUVERABILITY. It's a larger upfront investment, but it is just that; an investment! You'll be more productive, and that means more happiness! In the long run, you'll be glad you joined the Makita platform. This saw is smooth as all heck. I mean, like butter. 2X and plywood get eaten for breakfast. It's easy to keep straight and to be honest, I hardly use my track guide for ripping anymore unless it needs to be dead-square. A steady hand and the willingness to let the tool do the work will result in a fantastic product. She is square and true and easy to use. The battery placement is perfectly weighted, and while it does have heft, it's balanced and intentional. To address the blade guard issue, it will get stuck if your depth setting is incorrect or your base isn't flush to the material. I've come to accept it's a safety feature. You shouldn't be cutting through 3/4 inch material with a blade depth set to 1 1/2 inches. It isn't safe, and it will result in a poor finished product. As far as runtime, with the included blade, you're going to get improved performance. Even the 24T provides a really smooth finish that will be fine for most applications. I, however, swapped it out for a Diablo 60T Ultra finishing blade because I mostly build cabinets and do custom carpentry. I can't attest to the company's claims of 600 2x4 cuts and 300 2x10 cuts per set of 5aH batteries as I mostly cut 3/4" plywood, but I can work consistently for 10 hours and only use 1 1/2 sets of 5 aH batteries. You'll definitely make it through any typical day of use without running out of juice with 4 5.0 aH batteries. Just do it. Even when it's not on sale, it's completely worth it! You'll regret not doing it sooner once you see the world of opportunity it opens up!

There are so many great features to this 18-volt lithium-ion cordless circ. saw from Makita, I don't know where to start. But here goes. I'm not a construction pro -- I'm a female homeowner who loves D-I-Y projects, and a lefthander, which often effects my power tool choice. I've been making the switch over to all cordless tools for the past few years, and when I saw this Makita was available, I jumped at the chance to try it out. First off, I appreciate that Makita is putting an emphasis on making their tools compact and lighter in weight, and yet still making lasting power a priority. I had no problems operating any of the adjustment levers on the saw, and found the markings & labeling easy-to-read and handy. It took less than a minute to change out the blade, the task made faster & easier with the on-board allen wrench. Depth-of-cut was super easy to set, as was angle of cuts. After an initial charge, the powerful LXT batteries lasted throughout my testing, and still have plenty of charge -- very impressive, given the batteries aren't all that big. Makita's added a handy battery indicator so you can keep tabs on remaining charge. As a leftie, I had no problems operating this saw and still being able to watch my cut -- something righties always take for granted, but a definite issue for lefthanders with some tool brands. The weight & blance were good, and I didn't experience any hand or arm fatigue. The only issue I had with this Makita saw: a machine screw used for attaching the dust nozzle was missing, and vendor never sent a replacement -- something that shouldn't happen with a tool in this price range (hint hint, Makita). But I was able to find a suitable replacement at home, so it didn't impact my overall rating. An excellent, well-built circular saw with more than ample cordless power... I highly recommend this offering from Makita.

This circular is powerful, smooth, and accurate. This is my second Makita circular saw. I got it in a kit special with the rapid dual charger, and 4 batteries. It comes with a big soft case, and a dust port. The saw has excellent controls. There is an LED that turns on when you squeeze the trigger. It illuminates the work area and this is visible even from the left side. There is a power indicator for the 2 batteries on the top of the saw body to check the status of the batteries, because the ones on the batteries are not visible when installed in the saw. The shoe, guard and sliding cover are magnesium. There is a selector with presets at 22.5, 45 and 56 degree bevels. There is a set screw in the shoe to adjust the 90 degree position. The only minor issue I found is a small amount of play in the shoe hinge at the front. I minimized this with a thin washer between the parts. This saw cuts through 2 by 4s like butter. Great saw!

This is a great circular saw. Even with dual 18v Li-on batteries it isn't too heavy to wield with one arm. Plenty of power and it lasts on my worksite for a couple of days without the need to recharge. The cut is smooth and it is very easy to change the angle and depth. I've had it less than a month. This makita saw is a substantial cordless saw. I also have a milwaukee saw which is much lighter but it only has one battery vs this saw that takes two. The kit comes with a bag and a two battery charger. The charger is pretty big but has to be to fit both batteries. I thought it was comfortable to hold and its easy to see the blade when making a cut.
