This saw uses a sidewinder drive system. A worm drive saw has the motor mounted in line with the blade, while a sidewinder has the motor mounted parallel to the blade.
Will this saw run on one 18 V battery?
Thank you for your question. The XSH06 LXT 7-1/4" circular saw is powered by two of the same of the following batteries: BL1815N / BL1820B / BL1830 / BL1830B / BL1840B / BL1850B / BL1860B. It will not operate on a single battery.
Does have for right hand, blade on left side of saw?

How is this shipped? Ordered twice and both times received an unsealed box with batteries flopping around against the saw and box damaged. It looks like someone went through the box and removed batteries and then threw them back in. Anyone?
When I purchased mine it was packed securely with everything packed tightly. Makita has changed some packaging and it's my guess they change the security on this package's contents. Sadly I think trying to cut expenses and costs is taking it's toll on everything.
Yes Home Depot usually sends this without any exterior packaging. Sigh. They do it with so many tools.
I bought mine in the store. The bag and charger were sealed in a plastic bag. The blade was oddly in the saw. The batteries were also oddly attached to the saw. I was concerned this was repackaged. The books weren't packaged in plastic either.

Have ordered large amount of tools from HD & what I have found is that large items like saws get shipped without being put inside another box & sometimes I have received the box damaged or retapped as you you said items might have came out and where out back in by the transport company & resealed, however fed ex ups puts a label to call them it the item was damaged. I have continued to purchase from HD because of there return policy, it’s awesome return it for full refund and not satisfied.
My was delivered in excellent condition And the battery was in plastic sealed

My dust exhaust accessory came without a screw. So you know what size screw and washer I need to use? Also, can it attach up to a hose?
Thank you for your question on the XSH06PT dust extracting attachment. The part number is 911128-8 P.H.SCREW M4X16. This attachment attaches to the saw to allow connection to a vacuum hose for dust extraction.
The screw is 15mm long and an m4-0.7 diameter and thread pitch. The outside diameter of the dust attachment is 40mm or close to 1 1/2” and the inside diameter is around 34-35mm or l 3/8”. I have a Rockler Flexiport hose and the 1 1/2” coupler port that comes with it fits on the saw dust attachment. I’ve also used the same port coupler on my Festool track saw so it is probably a common size. I would contact Makita about the missing screw. They may send you one for free. I hope this helps.
