Basalt Gray 4 in. x 12 in. Honed Basalt Wall and Floor Tile (10 sq. ft. /Case)

Terrible Instructions! Only mentioned sealing before grouting. Installed without any sealer first. Had moisture staining under every locking tile spacer after setting tile. Denatured alcohol and scrubbing made no difference. Will have to start over.

Wish the back had more grit for mortar to grab but a decent tile for the price.

I love the way this tile turned out. But beware…it is a process. I had to use a sealer on both the front and back of the tile at least twice before we could lay. It is true this is a very porous tile, I did research about it. After all the tile was up and before we grouted I then sealed with a different product. It just took a lot more time and effort than your average tile, but the results were worth it.

If I could rate this less than one star I would. Love the look of this 'tile' but it's not really tile, but rather stone. Because of this it is porous. When it was time to grout we consulted with a Home Depot employee if it was necessary to seal before grouting. We were told "no". As we began grouting and within ten minutes wiping down that grout color was not coming off of the face of the tile. We scrubbed for nearly two hours but were left with an unsightly haze (some swirls because that's how the grout was applied in some places). I returned to Home Depot and spoke to the manager. While helpful (he gave me a product off the shelf that was a grout/haze remover that didn't touch it) there was nothing he could do. We consulted a real tile company who directed us to a professional. After many attempts with products that have worked in the past (including some acids and a sander) he was also unsuccessful. We will have to tear out this tile. Thankfully it is just a backsplash behind a counter stovetop, but it is time consuming and costly. Needless to say we will NOT be using this 'tile' again. To note, Home Depot has refunded us the cost of this time (which was not cheap). We feel the manufacturer should have some skin in this fiasco.

Very decent looking piece for the price. Worked well for me in a small area as I did not have to cut many pieces.

Good quality but grossly overpriced. What makes this 4"x12" tile almost $20/sq-ft and I can buy a 12"x24" tile for $1.69/foot?--the fact that it is a trim tile vs a tile covering a large area? Can't blame it on shipping price as it cost more to ship the 12"x24" tile than this 4"x12". But, I bought it so I guess HD or the tile mfg. wins. It was either buy it and have a nice border or leave it "unbordered", looking unfinished.
