I have a new concrete slab with a smooth finish, how do I etch and prepare the surface
      ByOct 23, 2026

      Answer This Question

Hi Glen, thanks for the question. Typically etching is done using muriatic acid or other chemical solution, by applying it to the surface, letting it work and then rinsing thoroughly. I'd suggest checking with your local home improvement store for an etching product. If you have additional questions about your project, please reach out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to help. -Ronald

Can I put floor leveling before
            ByOct 16, 2026
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

Hi Rolando, thanks for reaching out with your question. If the floor leveler is cement-based, our 1-Part Epoxy should be okay to apply over it once it’s fully cured. However, I would still check with the floor leveler manufacturer to see if it is paintable. If you have further questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to us directly; we are always happy to help. -Angie

              Answer This Question

Hi Cassandra, thanks for your question. We don't recommend using our 1-Part Epoxy Floor Paint on vertical surfaces. Instead, you can use one of our exterior wall paints, such as our Premium Plus Exterior paint. Good luck with your project! -Christina

This paint worked great on our basement floor. It went on pretty easily and gave the floor a nice, clean look. We also added some color to the base, and I think that made the floor look even better. It covered the area well and overall I’m really happy with how it turned out.

                  Great results.
I used the Behr 1 Part Epoxy Concrete Floor Paint for my basement workshop floor and the results were great!. The floor was bare concrete about 10 years old so no oils, sealer or other coatings to worry about. I washed it twice and let it dry several days. Gave it a coat of the clear Behr concrete binding primer and then two coats of paint. Observed all recommended dry times and stayed off it for 7 days after final coat. It looks great. Dropped a few tools on it with no chipping and even small paint drips have wiped up. Very satisfied.

I used the BEHR PREMIUM, Slate Gray Self Priming 1 Part Epoxy paint to breathe some life into a thirty year old garage floor. The paint was easy to apply. It has dried for a few weeks before attempting to park cars on it. It looks pretty good, but the true test will be how well it stands up to car tires, time and weather.

I have to say, i'm happy with the results of using this to paint my pool deck. It took about seventeen gallons, but my deck is in aggregate finish. Would probably have taken about half that much had it been a smooth finish. Now, just waiting to see how it holds up..

                    Less coverage than stated
I followed the directions for cleaning and prepping my driveway. My driveway is 750 sq. Ft. According to your directions, one gallon will cover 500 sq. Ft. So…that would be a total of 1500 sq.ft. For 2 coats. I have about another 50-75 sq. Ft. To do yet to finish the first coat and I have used 4 gallons. Yes-I do know what I am doing-I am a paint dept. Manager. You need to change your coverage from 500 sq. Ft. To 180 per gallon. You are misleading customers intentionally so that they buy single gallons thinking it will cover their project. Then they (me) have to buy more at the higher single gallon price. Shame on this manufacturer!! I now have to buy a 5 gallon bucket to insure my project gets done. If it peels…YOU WILL HEAR FROM ME AGAIN.

                    Response from BehrAug 7, 2026
Hi PJ, thank you for your review. I’m sorry to hear that our 1-Part Epoxy isn’t providing the proper coverage. I certainly understand how frustrating that can be. Our 1-Part Epoxy’s expected coverage would typically range between 300-500 sq ft. per gallon, depending on the condition and texture of the surface. While it’s hard to say precisely why it’s requiring you to use more product than expected, what I can recommend doing is allowing your coat to thoroughly dry for4-6 hours. If you notice that the coverage is still uneven at that point, I recommend applying a second coat using a 3/8” nap roller and following the recommended spread rate to avoid any over- or under-application, as this can affect the drying and performance. Customer satisfaction is important to us, and we appreciate your feedback. Please reach out to us directly if you need further assistance; we are always happy to help. -Angie Behr

                      Response from BehrJun 12, 2026
Hi John, thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear about the peeling you're experiencing in such a short amount of time. I can understand how disappointing this can be. To get your project back on track, I recommend removing any loose coating, and spot etching any bare concrete. Then, make sure the surface is clean and dry before touching up the peeling areas and recoating the surface for uniformity. Your project is important to us, so should you need some help, please reach out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to assist you!-Angie Behr
