Questions & Answers

Will this cut through a steel Master lock
ByMay 11, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hi Laura. The 14" cutter isn’t meant for hardened Master Lock shackles. You can step up to a 24" or 30" Milwaukee bolt cutter or use a grinder/cut-off tool for a guaranteed cut.

          What can cut rebar?
          BySep 2, 2025
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Hi, Tedd. The 14" Bolt Cutter has a maximum cut capacity of 5/16" in soft/medium materials with a hardness of less than 31 HRC and a maximum hardness of 48 HRC. Rebar typically exceeds these specifications in both hardness and material strength, making this bolt cutter unsuitable for cutting rebar.

Can anyone tell me if there is another adjustment to fully close the blades other than the bolt/lock nut on the Milwaukee 24 inch bolt cutter. It's not until I remove the bolt/lock nut that I can get the cutter to cut through the chainlink. Still a gap.
              ByFeb 5, 2025
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Hey Jim! Here are the steps you can follow to adjust the blades: 1. Locate the Adjustment Screws: The Milwaukee 24-inch bolt cutter has adjustment screws near the pivot point. These screws allow you to fine-tune the blade alignment. 2. Loosen the Lock Nut: Loosen the lock nut that secures the adjustment screw. 3. Adjust the Blades: Turn the adjustment screw to move the blades closer together. Make small adjustments and check the blade alignment frequently. 4. Tighten the Lock Nut: Once the blades are properly aligned and there is no gap, tighten the lock nut to secure the adjustment.

They are a nice size. I have been using them for fencing for a few weeks. They cut fence wire very efficiently.

                How to use/open
I don’t even know how to open them. No instructions. Am I supposed to loosen one or both of the bolts/screws at the top near the blades? I can’t get these open more than maybe 1/16” so I must be doing something wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

                  Poor quality
I bought this cutter today, to cut some soft mental chains. After the first cut, the tooth can not close. Low quality product, not recommended. Will return soon.

                    They don't work
I purchased these to cut bolts and security wire off trailer doors they can barely cut I'm fighting to cut the cables and end up chomping the whole thing the bite force isn't great at all. It's a shame they should cut through like butter.

These 24" bolt cutters went through two padlocks left on my house from the previous owners. No problems at all with the bolt cutters. It was so much easier than I thought it was going to be.

Cuts through cattle or “livestock” panels like butter! I wondered how hard it would be for me, a 30-something woman, to use. I tried this out on a screw first. No issues whatsoever!

I bought this tool to cut the springs of a king side mattress in small pieces. I made many cuts. The frame wire was hard. With this tool it was very easy. And after many cuts it is still like new. Worth the price.

I have, on occasion, needed a larger bolt cutter than the one I currently own. This 30" cutter will definitely do the job - see picture comparison. This bolt cutter will cut soft metals up to 1/2" in diameter and hard metals up to 3/8" in diameter. At 30" in length, you have the leverage you need for those thicker cuts. You also have comfort grips handles. This is a beast of a bolt cutter that should take care of the majority of your cutting needs.
