Can you put just one of the bits in the screwdriver without the extension?? Incase you need it to be even shorter.
Yes. The Klein Tools Cat. No. 32308, 8-in-1 Multi-Bit Adjustable Length Stubby Screwdriver is designed so the bits can be inserted directly into the magnetic bit holder without the adjustable extension shaft, allowing for the shortest possible overall length when working in very tight spaces. The extension shaft can be removed and used separately as an impact driver attachment when needed.
Is the bit holder overly deep? Since the included bits are double-ended, it seems like it the holder would have to be deep. I'm worried that any other 1-2" bits I already own will sink too far in the holder?
The Klein Tools Cat. No. 32305, 15-in-1 Multi-Bit Ratcheting Screwdriver, is designed primarily for the included double-ended bits and other impact accessories, so the bit holder is deeper than a standard 1 in. insert-bit holder. This is to reduce bit wobble when in use. Standard 1-in. single-ended bits may sit farther into the shaft than ideal, but 2 in. bits are compatible with this product.
This uses proprietary Klein-bits that are slightly larger (and longer) so all the bits I have from other companies are useless. Worse, there is only one #2 Phillips included, which is the most commonly used bit. So if/when you wear down or lose that bit i

The bits for the 8-in1 Stubby are shorter than standard. In other words, standard bits are too big for the storage compartment. Can HD or Klein recommend a bit set that is shorter to replace the bits that come in the 8-in-1 Stubby?
Klein Tools does not have a replacement bit set for the model # 32308 Stubby Screwdriver

Is this insulated?
It has the rubber grip but I don’t think I would use it on a live circuit. They do have the 600 volt insulated ones

The bit holder is a bit tough to pull out; is there a way to spray some WD-40 inside the shaft to loosen the bit holder up?
I would not use wd 40. I’m there a chance it could react with the plastic and rubber molding on the handle and deteriorate it. You should be able to use a silicone type lubricant for it though
I had to chuck the shank in a drill, hold the other end with pliers and spin the mechanism while feeding the bit magazine in and out. This shaved a lot of plastic out of the innards and made it work well after.
It is not recommended to spray WD-40 into the bit holder area. Letting WD-40 remain on some of those plastics could damage them over time. Please contact Klein Tools Customer Service 800-553-4676 for assistance with your screwdriver.
