About This Product

The Root Pouch Boxer is a round fabric grow bag with a 25 gal. soil capacity, made from 100% recycled PET fabric in navy. The breathable fabric allows air exchange through all sides of the bag, air-pruning roots and preventing circling. Box-stitched handles and reinforced seams are built for repeated lifting, and the non-degradable fabric is weather resistant for outdoor use. This grow bag requires no assembly, and soil in fabric dries faster than in plastic or terra cotta pots, so plan to water more frequently in hot weather. The 25 gal. capacity suits container vegetable gardening on a patio or balcony, with room for large plants such as tomatoes, peppers, and squash. It also holds enough soil for a dwarf fruit tree or a specimen shrub that needs deep root space. Renters and urban gardeners who cannot plant in the ground can use the handles to move the filled bag between sunny spots, then fold it flat for storage at the end of the season.

Highlights

  • Breathable fabric air prunes roots and stops circling
  • Reinforced seams and box-stitched handles for reuse
  • 25 gal. round bag suits a dwarf fruit tree or shrub
  • Made from recycled plastic water bottles
  • Can be used with drip systems, overheads and hydroponic flood trays
  • Pots are washable and reusable
  • Keeps plants warmer in winter and cooler in summer
  • Creates improved overall root structure

Which container would be best to grow a rose in? I have a rose that's doing well in burlap, but that's just temporary. I want to move into something permanent. The rose, including roots, stands about 2.25 ft. high.

    Answer This Question

Thank you for your Question We would recommend a #25 gallon Boxer Root Pouch container for your rose. We also recommend using a high-quality, well-draining potting mix blended with compost rather than heavy garden soil Happy Planting Thank you Sherry Root Pouch

How many potatoe plants would this hold
        ByMay 31, 2026
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Plant 3 to 5 seed potatoes in a 15-gallon container. This allows enough space for the roots to expand while ensuring the tubers aren't overcrowded. As a general rule, each potato plant needs about 3 gallons of soil to reach its full potential. thank you Sherry Root Pouch

Well constructed root bag, and it holds my starter tangerine tree well. Eventually I'll transplant the tree outside, once it can withstand winter weather. Recommended.

Shipment to the store was slow. I like how much soil it holds - but of course, that makes it super heavy. But so far it is very sturdy. At this time, I am not sure how well this will be for tomatoes. Time will tell. In the past I have experimented with growing tomatoes in-ground vs containers. Containers were abysmal compared to in-ground. This is my first time trying super large bags. So far, the tomato plant is super slow. The cucumber plants are doing very well.

                  Very wrong size info
The sizes in the listing are totally WRONG!! I should have paid attention to other reviewers that said sizes were wrong. #1. The so-called 5 gallon pouch is NOT 5 gallons! Its closer to two gallons. See my attached photos. One photo is side by side photo of the so-called 5 gal pouch and a 2 gal plastic pot. The other pic shows the the 2 gal pot INSIDE the so-called 5 gallon pouch. #2. The main description for the Root Pouches (all sizes) are listed by gallons, yet the schematic in the photos show liters and is frankly extremely confusing and makes no sense to the casual shopper. Try using American gallons. #3. Whoever in Home Depot is in quality control needs to get this fixed. Home Depot usually does a great job on its product description, but this is a disaster. Having a photo of a person standing next to the pouches would help also. #4. I did a lot of research and waited quite a while to get these and they turn out to be too small, all due to incorrect labeling. So now I have to drive to Home Depot to return these. So wasted time and gas. Not happy. Took off two stars for wrong description. Otherwise seems to be well made..hence 3 stars.

                    Wrong item sent
Whoever picked the order wasn’t paying attention to detail or thought it wouldn’t be noticed. Everything was right except you sent wrong item. The only reason I ordered these is because I wanted the handles. Dont know if they actually came from Home Depot or directly from Root Pouch. Based on return label, Root Pouch may have messed it up but HD is on the hook for it.

                      7 ga Root Pouch
Purchased these for tomatoes & peppers, filled and planted. Wanted a product that was large but moveable so I could get them into shade if necessary. Also wanted a product that would allow the roots to breathe, unlike plastic pots. Worried some about staining the patio but that hasn’t happened at all. 4” of rain drained like nothing, but soil is still moist. This is what I’ll be using from now on. Great product, sturdy, no odor, and the veggies are growing great!
