Questions & Answers

Is it 110 volts
BySep 18, 2026

Answer This Question

As indicated in its title, the LG 14,000 BTU 115-Volt Window Air Conditioner Unit Cools 700 sq. Ft. with Wi-Fi, Remote, Dehumidifier, in White, Model # LW1523ERSM, is a "115-Volt" unit. In the US, 110 V and 115 V refer to the exact same nominal voltage standard. For all practical home purposes, they are completely interchangeable. An appliance labeled "110V" will plug into and safely run on a standard outlet labeled "115V," and vice versa. The variance in numbers is simply a reflection of grid fluctuations and historical naming conventions: The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) sets the official standard for residential voltage in the United States at 120 V. Electricity drops in voltage as it travels from the power lines, through your breaker box, and down long household wires. Because of this "voltage drop," power might leave the transformer at 120 V but arrive at your wall outlet at roughly 115 V, or drop down to around 110 V by the time it reaches the end of an extension cord. Household electronics and appliances are engineered to tolerate a standard operating range of roughly 110 V to 125 V...^Ivan.

Is this an inverter type air conditioner?

        Answer This Question

Hello, LovelyJA! Thank you for sharing your question with us about the LG Window Air Conditioner (LW1523ERSM). No, the LG Window Air Conditioner (LW1523ERSM) is not an inverter‑type air conditioner; it uses a traditional fixed‑speed compressor instead of a variable‑speed one. This means it operates at a single speed when cooling, unlike LG’s Dual Inverter models that adjust compressor speed for quieter and more energy‑efficient performance. You can explore the full feature list and support details here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-14-000-BTU-115-Volt-Window-Air-Conditioner-Unit-Cools-700-sq-ft-with-Wi-Fi-Remote-Dehumidifier-and-in-White-LW1523ERSM/322847864. Answer This Question

Hello, Missy! Thank you for sharing your question with us about the LG Window Air-Conditioner (LW1223ERSM). For this model, if the filter light stays on after cleaning, you’ll need to manually reset the timer: • To do this, press and hold both the Temperature Up (^) and Temperature Down (v) arrow buttons on the control panel at the same time for about 3 seconds until the light turns off. This step clears the reminder and confirms that the filter maintenance has been completed. You can explore the full feature list and support details here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/LG-12-000-BTU-115-Volt-Window-Air-Conditioner-Unit-Cools-550-sq-ft-with-Wi-Fi-Remote-Dehumidifier-and-in-White-LW1223ERSM/322847858. What is the lowest temperature setting? I am looking for AC that goes down to 60.

                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

The thermostat for the LG 12,000 BTU 115-Volt Window Air Conditioner Unit Cools 550 sq. Ft. with Wi-Fi, Remote, Dehumidifier, in White, Model # LW1223ERSM, can be set between 60°F–86°F (16°C–30°C). However, neither this air conditioner nor any other window air conditioner, regardless of brand or manufacturer, will rarely reach 60°F under standard summer conditions. Residential air conditioners are engineered to lower indoor temperatures by a maximum of 15°F to 25°F below the outdoor temperature. Setting the thermostat to 60°F does not make the unit cool faster; it simply tells the compressor to run continuously, which faces physical and mechanical limitations. This is commonly known as the 20-Degree Rule. Continuous cooling below 68°F freezes condensation on the evaporator coils. HVAC industry experts recommend keeping your setting between 72°F and 78°F. This range balances human comfort, keeps electricity bills manageable, and prevents your system from burning out prematurely...^Ivan.

Love this AC unit. Its been a long time since we bought an LG product, and I gotta say it does not disappoint, it's powerful, yet quiet, such a Huge difference , I was skeptical if this one would be able cool our Living room, dining room and kitchen, but has performed impressively. Easy to install, easy set up, simple controls. I did. Notice when the red light came on for the filter, after we cleaned it and put it back in the light stayed on. As I looked it up you need to use the app to reset it, we dont use a app, so just turn it off for 20 seconds then back on it goes out. Very pleased with its power and how quiet it is.

Got it maybe a year ago and it stopped working last night. We are currently going through an extreme heat wave and with 2 kids at home it’s been a nightmare. Very disappointing especially for the price. I would not recommend if you are looking for something reliable.

Works well once in place, but be prepared for a custom install.
Bought this two days ago to replace a window unit that no longer worked. It comes with installation directions but the pictures are pretty small so it took some study to figure them out. It's hard to overstate how poorly thought out the installation kit is. The guides for the curtain panels that snap onto the lower housing do not fit. Repeat, they do not fit. It's not you. I had to use a Dremel tool to grind part of them down because it was too large to fit into the channel in the underside of the housing. The install kit is designed with the assumption that you have a deep external window sill. I don't, so thankfully the old unit was installed with a piece of thin-gauge perforated angle iron with wire cables on either end that anchored to eye bolts screwed into the siding next to the window, otherwise I'd have had to engineer something so the unit didn't fall out. I also had to cut and fit a couple of pieces of wood so the unit would sit correctly. I used some rigid foam insulation on the exterior side to fill the gap between the unit and the windowsill. I would have expected an installation kit with more flexibility.

This GE air conditioner was easy assembling the side panel windows to attach to the unit. We chose this product because of its great reviews. It is loud running but i guess thats the norm these days. In video the setting is on low. This GE cooled our 20x20 room family within minutes. I gave it 4 stars bcuz of the loudness but 5 for efficiency.

The grill was yet to come. The tabs don’t line up, the pieces are flimsy and broke. We have tape on sides and top to keep it together. Directions are impossible with teeny tiny instructions that say may or may not be correct and possible changed per unit. Wondering if this is just back stock we bought and if they even make this model any longer due to reviews. We have seven days…

Hello, there! We are thrilled you chose an LG product, though we understand initial setup hurdles can cause some stress. We are completely dedicated to making sure your unit performs wonderfully and we are here to support you every step of the way.

To help ensure a secure and proper installation of your air conditioner frame and grille, please try the following steps:

Verify Alignment: Gently loosen the mounting screws around the cabinet frame to allow slight play, aligning the front grille tabs with the housing slots before snapping them securely into place.

Inspect Secure Fit: Ensure the control panel wire harness is tucked neatly out of the way so the grille sits flush against the unit without placing stress on the plastic tabs.

Review Component Placement: Double-check that the outer chassis is level in your window frame, as any slight tilt or distortion in the outer sleeve can misalign the interior tracks where the front grille attaches.

If you need any additional assistance getting everything set up, please feel free to email us at lgdigitalcare@lg.sprinklrsupport.com.

                          JUNK!
Biggest piece of crap I have ever seen. Plastic hooks that install under do not fit the slots. After removing unit from casing it is difficult to get it back in. It is just about impossible to get the front cover on the unit. You have to use the screws to keep it in place the tabs will not all 4 engage.

                            Piece of crap, don’t buy!!!
I bought the first one and paid my cousin to install it because I am disabled. Putting the first one together was miserable. The brackets that hold the lower curtain arms in place are made out of plastic and are supposed to clip in place. As other people have mentioned, the channel where the bracket is supposed to sit is not deep enough on one side so it won’t go in and as you’re trying to get it to go in, it breaks. This happened on the first one and on the second one I got after exchanging the first. Anyway my window is small enough so we just used the one curtain that had the bracket work. Since being installed we have had 4 hot and humid days and it is set to 60° and my room wouldn’t cool past 65°. Also it was more humid in my room than outside. I tried just having it on dry mode for hours and the humidity didn’t go down at all. I even thought maybe it was my thermometer but I changed it out for another one I had and it was still the same. So now I’m going to return this one and get a completely different brand. I even had an appliance technician check it out and he said it’s crap.

Hi, there. Thank you for sharing your experience with your LG Air Conditioner (LW1223ERSM) model. We understand how important it is to have an AC that installs securely and delivers strong cooling and dehumidifying, especially when you’ve already invested time, help, and multiple exchanges. For the bracket issue, this model's side-curtain channels perform best with a squared frame, a properly seated accordion panel, and aligned bracket tabs before applying pressure. Uneven channel depth may lead to panel shifting, complicating installation. For optimal cooling and humidity control, ensure the air conditioning unit is slightly angled downward toward the outside. Keep the filter clean to maintain airflow and efficiency. Seal the room tightly to prevent warm air from entering, which can reduce cooling effectiveness. Hi, there. Thank you for reaching out. We understand the importance of having your LG Air Conditioner (LW1523ERSM) model cool your space effectively. For an AC that isn’t cooling properly, one helpful step you can try is confirming the unit is set to Cool mode rather than Energy Saver or Fan, since those modes can cause the compressor to cycle off more often. Cleaning or inspecting the air filter can also help, as restricted airflow can reduce cooling performance significantly. Ensuring the room is properly sealed and that the AC has adequate clearance on the outside can also improve cooling efficiency. For more guidance, visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpQBq2v8_5Q.
