Part of our Pro Series, the 3M Cool Flow Valve Particulate Respirator 8511 is designed with the pro in mind to help bring you protection and comfort. The Cool Flow Exhalation Valve helps release warm and moist exhaled breath from inside the respirator. This N95 respirator features Advanced Electrostatic Media that enhances the capture of airborne particles and is designed for easy breathing. An adjustable M-noseclip helps provide a custom, secure seal. Whether you're hanging drywall or sanding a floor, rely on the trusted protection of the 3M Cool Flow Valve Particulate Respirator 8511.

          A:  I would highly recommend looking up what CDC has said and this bulletin from 3M: https://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/1798135O/possible-alternatives-to-surgical-n95-respirators-in-the-us-healthcare-technical-bulletin.pdf The bulletin states: "These 2019 novel coronavirus recommendations do not specify the need for a surgical N95 respirator." And: "There is no difference in the filtration effectiveness between standard N95 respirators and surgical N95 respirators."

            A:  CDC and hospitals have consistently stated that masks with valves should not be used when trying to stop the spread of Covid-19, as they di not stop the wearer from spreading their exhaled particles. Get an N95 without the valve.

                  New Design is Very Uncomfortable
                  3M seems to have changed it design of these respirators with thinner bands, and these bands quickly roll into a narrow band that cuts into the back of the neck. And there is no way to straighten out these bands. Highly uncomfortable. It's unfortunate that 3M would prioritize saving costs on materials over effective design.
