The Cool Flow Exhalation Valve helps release warm and moist exhaled breath from inside the respirator. This N95 respirator features Advanced Electrostatic Media that enhances the capture of airborne particles and is designed for easy breathing. A: They will prevent the spread better than someone that can spit through a cloth mask. The CDC wants to reduce the ability for large droplets (aka moist talking) with the use of masks. A: NIOSH has approved the 3M 8511 mask for Covid-19 and the CDC website specifically says masks with a front valve do provide two way protection. It's in the FAQs. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/respirator-use-faq.html

The 3m cup mask design is very durable and effective. I use it for all kinds of tasks where dust, dirt or mold are blown about. I like the exhale port on the mask since this greatly extends the filter life. I highly recommend it for and dust environment or fiberglass insulation install job. For extra life try gently prestretching the head bands. Store mask in a zip lock bag between uses.

This is the first dust mask I've ever used that did not fog up my safety glasses. Snug fit, but very effective in keeping dust and pollen out while I was doing some heavy weed whacking in my yard. The valve makes breathing much more comfortable than other types of masks. Will buy again.
