This is a great concept on paper but in practice it's waste of time and now I see why professional painters don't use it. First of all, the tape portion is the low tack old style adhesive that doesn't stick good. Second, when you go to tear or cut the roll to the size, it is difficult and it's a fight you will lose most of the time. Third, if you manage to cut the roll to size, when you go to unfold the plastic , chances are it will get still to the tape which is the only thing that low tack tape seems to stick to. Half the roll has ended up in the trash. It's not often that I find a 3m product that I don't like but this is one of them. Just use painters tape and lay paper or plastic separately it's way easier and will save so much time.

Huge time saver (but you must use the dispenser)
We use this on every painting job for covering windows and other things larger than 12" paper can cover. I see negative reviews because it is hard to cut, but if you buy it in a re-usable dispenser it has a scotch-tape like cutter built in, and then you will use so much you need these refills. Takes some practice, but saves so much time. Get the dispenser and you will love this.

Brilliant
Bought some of this yesterday to mask off for texturing around a new shower. Easy to use, especially at the difficult angles and tight spaces around the shower. I did find it easier to roll out what I needed and cut with scissors, the cutting edge on the roll cuts the tape fine, but doesn't cut the plastic as well.
