I would like to use this product to support my established roses. They grow very long canes that ...

Answer

Hi Jrod, The wood lattice should have no problem supporting your roses, provided that the lattice has proper support itself. You could anchor the lattice to your home or into the ground with wood poles/timbers, especially if the canes are, as you said, very long. One recommendation is Internet #205220341, Model #194354, Store SKU #256276, 4 in. x 4 in. x 8 ft. #2 Ground Contact Pressure-Treated Southern Yellow Pine Timber.

How can you anchor this to be used as a vegetable garden trellis?

Answers

Hi Xena, We are not sure how you intend to orient the trellis - that is, horizontally or vertically. If it is horizontally, some simple wooden stakes can be pounded into the ground every so many feet and then the trellis attached with screws or if you are less-inclined to using drills, etc., you could just zip-tie the trellis to the stakes. To locate stakes, go to the search bar within homedepot.com and enter the words "wooden garden stakes". If the lattice is planned for plants that do extreme climbing, we suggested that you get some wooden garden posts, such as the Outdoor Essentials 4 in. x 4 in. x 8 ft. Western Red Cedar Fence Post (2-Pack), Model# 245388. This is a bit of an investment, but as the posts are made of cedar, you will get years of use from them, and will not have any lattice that flaps wildly in the wind, nor will it struggle to support whatever your garden produces.

Edster, We tried to find a lattice product for you with a smaller opening size. The 4 ft. x 8 ft. Spruce Pine Fir Pressure Treated Square Wood Lattice, Internet #205091217, Model #159158, Store SKU #1000008110, is closer to your requested grid-opening size, at 1.75 in., but still not as small as you want. For that reason, we do suggest that you contact a Home Depot Pro to discuss a special order.
