Above material is Hem-Fir. A group of Hemlock and Western White Firs. Selected for appearance, 80% FOHC. Treatment does not affect structural quality of material. Good luck with your project!

What's the difference between "construction select" and "outdoor select"?

Asked by PaulG August 9, 2020

Answer

Good question. Construction Select is intended for applications where code approved treated lumber is called for, like deck joists or any structural member. Those products have more preservative and incising to ensure full penetration of the preservative. Outdoor Select products are intended as non structural appearance products, like the surface of the deck or railing, balusters, etc.

Can I have these (looking to order 4) cut into 5’ sections prior to delivery or curbside pick up?

Answer

We do not stock in 5' & can't cut. This is something that their local store might be able to do.

What is the weight of these 4x4s? (either #/ft or total weight)

Answers

They weight varies a lot based on how dry the wood is after being treated. Based on your strength, a 4x4x10 may be a bit difficult for some people, especially if it still has a lot of the liquid treatment product in the timber.

Used treated timbers as fence posts. They were reasonably straight with no splits and limited splinters. I have another project coming up and will be using the same treated timbers for another fence. A good product that I would recommend.
