Pressure treated for long-term protection against rot, fungal decay and termite attack
Can be painted or stained without waiting
Designed for exterior use
Factory-applied end sealant minimizes checking
Hollow core makes columns lighter weight and allows hidden electrical wiring
After receiving the product, I stored the columns in my garage until the weather breaks. approximately two weeks later I poured my footing and attempted to install my columns well, upon opening the box I found one column completely falling apart and after installing the other three and secure them, I noticed two of the three were coming apart in random areas. I put some 3 inch deck screws to hold them together for now until I can get some assistance and replacing them.

Disappointing that the Column is so small. It is exactly 5 inches by 5 inches. It is not even as wide as a 2x6 let alone 6x6. Does not match the advertisement or the paperwork included with the delivery!

GSW vs Coxwood
I have used the Coxwood column and the Great Southern Wood column.
The GSW column required a lot of prep work prior to painting due to numerous splits, cracks, ECT.
The Coxwood column are near perfect.
I have installed at least 150 treated laminated columns over the last few years. I only use Coxwood now. I have 10 columns on my front porches and I'm going to order 10 for the back screened porch.

To be fair about the lumber that I ordered, I think it could be an excellent product for the purpose I needed it for. However, the representation for the product was very poor, the delivery system and information is a nightmare, the carrier services just adds to the problems at another level. Phew!

The dimensions listed in the specifications is not correct. The column is actually 5x5, not 5.5x5.5 as listed. I had to return it since I’d have to redo all the framing for the screens on the screened porch.

Response from Great Southern WoodApr 8, 2019
If the product was 5x5, it was mis-manufactured by the sawmill. Please take this info to the store and have them contact their vendor for pressure treated lumber. They can make this issue right.

These arrived in beautiful shape. We’re using them around a new paver patio and they were ideal to install lighting on thanks to the open interior. Everyone working on the project (paver company, electricians, contractor) has been really impressed by the quality. Hoping they hold up well. Love them.

The main item I would caution people with regard to this product is that the actual size is 5" by 5", not the 6" x 6" listed. I purchased mine counting on the 6" size, or at least it being 5.5". So I am disappointed in inaccurate indication of size--it caused problems in my application.
Other than that, I have no issues. I give it a qualified recommendation. Also, FYI, this product is quite heavy. I am guessing that the 10 ft. section weighs on the order of 80 lbs.
2 in. x 6 in. x 4 ft. Premium Ground-Contact Pressure-Treated Wood Lumber (3-Pack)
Pressure-Treated lumber is treated for protectionPressure-Treated lumber is treated for protection against termites and rot. Ideal for a variety of applications including decks, play sets, landscaping and other outdoor projects where lumber is exposed to the elements. When used properly it is both safe and environmentally friendly. Treated wood is typically still wet when its delivered to The Home Depot or job site. As it dries, you should expect slight changes in width and length. As lumber dries, it may split, cup and warp. This is more likely to occur to occur in lower-grade boards, where knots and uneven grains are already present. Each piece of lumber is unique and carries physical characteristics that may include the following: knots, warping, shrinkage, swelling and/or splitting.View Full Product Description
