Why cant i order curb side pickup for items out of stock. (6 in x 6 in x12 ft pressure treated)

Asked by Vince June 23, 2020

Answer

This is one of those questions that should be directed to HD Customer Service. BTW, we understand why orders are not made against a product that is out stock - simple - HD can't put a current price on something they don't have. And, of course, if the product is discontinued - orders made against it causes mounds of extra work for the clerical staff. Wait until the product is available or find an alternate.

I don't think they can cut these they might be too big for their saw.

One of the post that I received had a bad spot that traveled half way through the beam. I had these delivered because I have no way to haul a 9’ beam and wish that I had not. I filled the area with wood filler and hope that it holds up.

I used these 6x6's to build a retaining wall in my side yard to build a pool. Most of the 6x6's were in great shape with little damage. There were a few that had corners rounded or still showing bark. All timbers were straight and square and that is hard to find in lumber that large and long.

Twisted and cracked
Carefully selected and purchased four 6x6x16 to build a tower to anchor a play set I'm building. Sunk 40 inches, after a few weeks, two of the posts are twisted an estimated 8-10 degrees at the top. Additionally, all four are exhibiting pretty significant linear cracks; some as wide as 1/4 inch and well over 12 inches in length. This is an extremely "overbuilt" project, so with that in mind, I'm sure it's still more than adequate in the strength and stability departments, it's still very disconcerting to look at it less than three months in and see this level of deterioration. I have no idea what it will look like next summer, but the idea of having to replace those vertical posts is pretty stressful - especially since I'm about to build a roof over it!
