Is this 6x6 Treated for structural ground contact ?

Building codes are wanting me to confirm that this is the structural Ground Contact Quality.
Asked by: 1969nwcedar
It may be ground contact, but it's not structurally rated meaning that you could put it in the dirt for a retaining wall, but you shouldn't use it as a structural post holding up a deck for example.

are these suitable to be laid flat for a 3.5 ft retaining wall? I'd be using steel i-beams as the posts for these to slide into
Asked by: jimmy
Yes as long as you stake them. If this is a retaining wall situation, then you would need to add in deadman into the hill.

Asked by: Eric
Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is, We do not have 10’ Landscape Timbers available. 6x6 10’s are available to special order in Construction Select and Pole Barn material. These are both structural and approved for ground contact. Please see your local Home Depot’s Prodesk or Special Order Desk to learn about these products and to Special Order this material.

Not optimal and I am deciding if I can use it or not. Wish more care had gone into selecting the beam, I would not have purchased it if I had seen it prior.

Those posts would last a lot longer then these post. Still this post was well treated and hand a nice straight grain with minimal knots. Let’s see how long this one lasts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product. Can these be use for raised gardens? The timbers worked really well for a small retaining wall. Straight and solid pieces, and easy to work with. I am considering using these for a raised bed garden but am concerned about the preservative leaching into the garden soil. Anybody have thoughts on this? The description refers to California Prop 65, which is making me rethink using these for a garden barrier.
