Product Overview

Each carton contains 10 Vents. The ADO Products Durovent 23-1/2 in. x 46 in. Rafter Vent with Built-In Baffle helps keep air moving in your attic. The ventilation system features polystyrene construction, which is lightweight and moisture resistant and the integrated baffle means that you need no blocking material between the vent and the top plate.
  • Install between rafters to provide an unobstructed air channel through insulation to help keep air flowing freely from soffits to ridge vents
  • Ideal for high-volume new construction or inexpensive re-insulation
  • Designed to friction-fit between the rafters or trusses with the vent's cones pushed up against the roof deck
  • Secure the vent in place by stapling the wide nailing flanges to the truss and top plate by using a horizontal stroke with your hammer tacker (hammer tacker not included)
  • Polystyrene material provides a lightweight air channel
  • Water resistant and durable, blocking out moisture and wind from penetrating the attic, to satisfy most building-code requirements
  • Economical way to meet energy code requirements for air flow
  • Integrated baffle eliminates the need for blocking material such as batt insulation between the vent and the wall top plate, as is commonly the practice for installation of rafter vents without an integral baffle

Best product on the market for maintaining attic ventilarion
The Durovent with Baffle Attic Vent Channel was lightweight, made of long lasting polystyrene, moisture resistant, easy to install, with a stapler. The Durovent had a top plate block attached to prevent insulation from entering the soffet area. The baffling assures sufficient path for air movement for proper attic ventilation, especially for blown in insulation. This product is a much better product than the old card board top plate block and is a primary step for proper attic insulation, decreasing energy cost in my home. My cost for Durovent baffles was $125 for my entire home, including the garage. You can guess what it would the bill could be without proper attic ventilation.

    better than the other brand
l used the other brand that's pink and had a hard time installing them without snapping them to pieces. I even had to use tape on it! So I decided to try this product since I felt there was no way it could. be worse then the one I started with! the ADO Durovent installed so much faster it was night and day compared to the other brand. when I build my garage this is what I will use!

Staples often shot through the baffle requiring multiple attempts for secure placement. Settings on stapler were as mild as possible. Product itself is a step up from cardboard but still flimsy. We'll see how long it holds.

Hmm it sounds like you received product that should be returned. Our typical product is a thin material, with a thickness similar to an egg carton. These should be treated carefully as you install in new construction. If you are looking to install in an existing attic our proVent (black high impact polystyrene versus polystyrene) is more durable and can handle riding along staples and nails protruding through the roof deck.

It’s a bit easily cracked, especially when bending along the seams to fit at the juncture between roof and top plate, so really watch as you fit it, especially if you’re maneuvering over Simpson ties. However, overall it was very easy to install. The how-to video was good, but I wish it had a little better view of the installer folding and positioning the bottom of the DuroVent at the top plate. I rewound and played back several times, but not a good clear view without the installer’s body blocking the important part. Installation was fast and it remains to be seen how well it holds up after many seasons! Overall seems pretty user friendly if you take a little care at the fitment end (top plate/rafter/roof). Ours was a 5-12 pitch, truss built roof system (2x4 rafter, 2x6 top plate)

Somewhat easy to install although you must be careful with the roofing nails that stick through. Also be prepared for a lot of work getting them in in attics already insulated. Otherwise, the Durovent product had a top plate block attached to prevent insulation from entering the soffit area.

Just for future reference you can cut the vent to fit the fit space and staple it in place. These vents are best installed in new construction since most attics are difficult to access the top plate once your drywall is installed. The proVent - our black vent is more suited for installing after drywall is in place, they handle being pushed into place and don't rip or tear when gliding over staples or nails in the roof deck.
