This attractive tabletop unit adds invisible moisture to your home by moving dry air through saturated wicks. The compact size makes this unit ideal for apartments. What does CF stand for

The CF stands for check filter. If the filter is still absorbing the water all the way to the top, the filter is good. If it is dry in places, it needs to be replaced. The clear the CF simply unplug the unit for a few seconds. When the unit is plugged back in, the CF will be gone. If the fan is set at 1 or 2 there is a hum, but if I set it on 3 it is a bit annoying, but doable. Haven't tried 4; it wasn't necessary. The 2 setting is usually sufficient to maintain the humidity level.

Nope.
I've had this unit for a few years, and am finally purchasing a different unit. I set the humidity level to 35 and it never reaches 35. Never stops running even when it runs out of water. I wake up in the morning feeling like my face is cracking. Maybe I got a bad unit I don't know. I would definitely not recommend buying this.

Here are some things that you can try before reaching out: make sure your wick is wet, the 7D6 100 is made for a single, large room, so make sure the door to that room is closed. recommend but not sure how long will last, speeds above 2 very noisy
i had holmes humidifier for 10 years and worked well. the fill bottle does not slide in easily, i hope fill spring lasts. speed 1 very quiet. speed 4 too noisy to run. can't separate top part of unit off to clean tray. have used for only 3 days

Hello, Don! We find that it is easier to slide the bottles straight down and then angle out once the bottle is seated on top of the beg properly. While you will definitely hear a sound coming from the unit while it’s operating, it shouldn’t be disruptive. The humidifier is rated for 1000 square ft apt. I live in an 800 square foot apt with high ceilings. I also have four other humidifiers although smaller. The humidifier cannot raise the humidify above 35%. I attribute this to the heaters that run non stop. Most of my plants are dying.

Local humidity levels in your area and the physical location of the humidifier can affect coverage. We recommend positioning your humidifier in the most centrally located room of your house (typically your living room). Having your humidifier in the middle of your home helps the humidity spread more easily and evenly. Our square footage estimates are based on homes with tight construction. Older homes, or those with poor insulation or cracks, may have a larger coverage area. Pretty happy with the humidifier you can set the desired humidity level and fan level then just let it run. In my 2 bedroom 2 floor apartment I have to fill it up once a day with it at 40% humidity. For negatives I wish it had a top fill since it does take some arm strength to hold it while filling up 2 gallons of water. Finally I would recommend getting some bacteriostat to treat the water to avoid mold on the filter.

I bought 2 of these humidifiers. They are great! I have forced hot air and it can get very dry in my home. I put one in my living area and one in my bedroom. They keep the air very comfortable. No stuffiness or dry skin. Would buy again!

At high operating speed the top of the filter dries...
At high operating speed the top of the filter dries out and the wicking action slows significantly. I use distilled water so mineral build-up is not the problem. The F "fill" indicator has yet to work, even when the tank is empty. Because I move the unit between two rooms, the CF "check filter" reminder may not ever work as, per the manual, it resets when the humidifier is unplugged for more than 60 seconds.
