I was surprised when I just sprinkled a little of the fire ant bait on a few mounds. It has a bright yellow color which looks like tiny mini blossoms. The mound was busy with ants all on the top of mound. The next day I couldn't see the yellow bait, at all. In a space around a cement brick on the ground the activity of the ants were no longer visable, even though when I sprinkled it they were all over. I wanted to take a picture ,but on the third day it started raining and the previous mound was almost non-existant, the rain had beat the mound down. I haven't seen any ants in any of the areas I put this bait in. If anyone knows anything about fire ants they are hard to get rid of, they will go underground and come back up near the same areas. No new mounds have showed up!

I use some form of Amdro for all of my ant problems This product is a 5 lb granular bag which says it is for all types of ants, including imported, with the exclusion of Carpenter and Pharaoh ants, (but they do make another product for those, Amdro Ant Block Home Perimeter Bait which I have and use as needed and works very well). I used a handheld spreader to apply to the lawn approx. 3 weeks ago and there are no sign of ants anywhere. Florida is notorious for ants in the summer. If you ignore a mound it will grow to the size of a car tire. Some products only cause them to move to another location and I no longer even waste my time on those.. I love to watch as the ants run out and carry the Amdro back into the mound as soon as it hits the ground. Apply to lawn early morning or late afternoon, not when rain is expected or the lawn is wet. Preferably when temp is above 60 degrees.

AMDRO Kills Fire Ants - Yard Treatment Bait. A 5-pound bag provides season-long fire ant control. The bait kills the queen, other fire ants and helps to prevent new mounds from forming. Ants eat the bait and feed it to the queen, the queen then cannot produce new ants. Just add bait to your broadcast spreader and let it go to work. This product lasts all season, so your DIY pest control is long-lasting. Once spread, the building of new mounds & colonies is prevented. A 5-pound bag treats up to 10,000 square feet.
