The FUTURA-10 salt-free, anti-scale water conditioner is a new advancement in water treatment technology that conditions water without the use of salt or corrosive chemicals. Hello, this is low maintenance system. The carbon prefilter will need to be replaced ever 6-12 months, the media in the Futura gets replaced about every 3-5 years. Product does what it promised. Water is not "sticky" and my hair feels softer. Only inconvenience is that I did not receive any pre-filtering, only the unit and a box with all types of connectors. The space I have is limited so the unit was perfect in size. Glad I don't have to play around with salt.

I had the system installed about a week ago so cannot say so much. But, the water seems to taste better and looks clearer. I hired a plumber to install the system. It took him several hours to complete the installation. The additional parts I purchased from Home Depot to connect the system to my exiting pipes fit perfectly.

Finally dumped the AquaPure syStem that lost all support and products jumped in cost by 30% as soon as 3M took it over. The APEC Undersink double osmosis system and the Whole House water system both seem to have made a great impact on my wife and my Love for water again. NO more bottled water!

I live in florida with very hard water. The shower glass doors have stains and my hair has the hard water build up. We purchased the futura-10 with the hope that it would soften the water in the entire house. I have not noticed any difference in the water. I think it was a waste of money and I do not recommend it.

The Futura is designed as an alternative to the traditional salt based softener, for those who are looking to help reduce scaled build up without adding salt or chemicals into their water supply. We have carried this system for many years and it has received very positive responses. This is not an ion exchange system, so it does not remove the hardness from the water; It crystallizes the hardness, making it more difficult to adhere to your fixtures and pipes. The specs do show that this works best for water that has hardness less than 25 grains, no hydrogen sulfide, and no iron. I bought this water along with the whole house max system. It was frustrating hooking these units up because the inlet on both systems are on opposite sides. I would think that since these systems are often sold together that the inlet and outlet ports would be identical since they would be connected in succession. They say that after installing the systems there may be an odor from the lines de-scaling. It's been 3 1/2 months and I still have a bad odor coming from the faucets.

The hook up on the systems are different because the water does flow differently. The Futura is a down flow system, meaning that the water flows down into the system first and then flows up into the media. This is to help increase the contact time between the water and the media. The WTS-Max is an up flow system, meaning the water enters into the media first, then flows up and out of the system, since the carbon does not require that contact time. This does require the input and output to be configured differently from each other. It's not common to have a smell in the water 3 1/2 months after installation.
