What is the best way to install this over a popcorn ceiling?

    Answer This Question

Hey Stringer, thanks for your question. If you are going to install this directly over the popcorn ceiling without scraping it then be sure to use nails that are long enough to get through the thickness of the board and popcorn while still biting deeply enough into the overhanging joists/studs. Alternatively, you could install furring strips over the popcorn ceiling and then nail your boards directly into those. Make sure you determine which way your joists/studs are running, as that will determine which direction you can ran the boards. They need to run perpendicular to your studs.

I am looking to use this material in a bathroom behind mirrors for the vanity. The space is shared with the shower would this material get corroded over time from the water condensation?
      ByFeb 25, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Hello, thanks for your question. Any wooden material that hasn’t been specialty treated for moisture resistance, such as this trim board, will corrode if continuously subjected to moisture. There are steps you can take to minimize the likelihood of your trim board becoming damaged, such as sealing off any exposed gaps and ends and applying multiple topcoats of water resistant primer, paint, sealer, etc. There are a lot products on the market that can help with this. With a quality installation and periodic maintenance to check in on the condition of the sealing and the topcoats, your trim board should be safe from the effects of condensation.

Hello, thanks for your question, it is recommended that you consult your local building code to determine whether or not it would be appropriate to install a wood product along your wall in this scenario. If fire is a concern, please note that these boards are milled out of normal radiata pine wood and they are totally combustible.

Very good product. I have several projects where this will make a great addition to the wall for accent and enhancement. Great price and good quality for a primed finger joint board.

Affordable and very stylish. My only complaint is that most of the boards were damaged in stone amd it was hard to find any with minimal damage

Some boards had some imperfections and rough edges that had to be sanded. several had cracks or splits. Couple of boards were not straight.

This was a lucky find in the store for me. I wanted this in black but it was easy to paint. It was already primed.

The milling was a little off, but we’ll sand and caulk the joints then paint. It will look great when finished!
