AnswerThere is not a place on the fixture for one, so I would recommend using LED light bulbs with built in photocells.

AnswerHi Lucy, this lamp post is not solar powered. It is hard wired and I had to plug it into an outdoor outlet that I have. I connected a timer so that it comes on automatically at dusk. Hope this helps.

Arrived very well packaged, fixture is broken down into separate major components. Assembly was really simple, the only difficulty is the main wire, two conductor, brown color, where connected to actual light fixture you can see the proper wire colors, so I used an ohm meter to differentiate them to properly connect to same color existing wires. Very beautiful fixture very pleased. The only thing I would have liked included with this fixture would be a photo cell to turn lights off or on based on daylight. I found one at the Home Depot and spliced it in to the existing wiring. I drilled a hole in the upper section of the fixture to position it, total cost was $11. Very pleased with the way it looks and functions.

We bought this help light our front pathwalk and driveway. The first time it was delivered, one of the lights was broken, but with Home Depot's excellent return policy we were able to simply drive to the local store and return it with no problems. The second one was in good condition and it looks great on our front yard! We used 60 watt bulbs and it lights up our path and driveway but is not so bright that it would bother the neighbors. We also have it on a "dusk-til-dawn" sensor for further convenience. Not being competent in electrical matters I had an electrician do the installation so I can't comment on that.

Bought 3 of these lamp posts online and hoped for the best. I cannot be happier with them! They look beautiful and we’re easy to assemble. I’m so glad I chose these lights as they add such a gorgeous detail by our pool. We received many compliments and friends asking where we purchased them- they couldn’t believe Home Depot!
