Product Details

Active Ventilation Products Aura Solar Attic Fan exhausts air continuously by using solar and wind power for optimum ventilation performance. Model ASF-14-C2-WD has a 15- Watt solar panel providing energy to 4 EC fans on sunny days to increase the CFM (cubic feet per minute) of 1007 of air flow performance. It is an excellent choice to exhaust attic heat in the summer to reduce hot attic temperatures. It will also exhaust moisture in the winter to keep the attic dry and cool to preserve attic insulation and prevent ice dams. The Aura Solar Attic Fan will produce 360 CFM at 11 mph without the solar powered fans through its patented engineered design with no moving parts. The attic fan is made of durable rust free aluminum and has 5 manufactured components: the vent head, 4 - EC fans, 1 - solar panel, vent collar and square flange. It has a 14 in. Dia throat opening with a 2 in. collar height and a 19 in. x 19 in. square flange. The vent head has three concentric cylinders with slotted vertical louvers. When air moves against the louvers of the outer and middle cylinders it is directed to create a circular airflow. The louvers of the inner cylinder face in the same direction as the air movement created by the outside cylinder. This air movement creates a Venturi effect which produces a vacuum or negative pressure to pull air from within the attic space.
  • No wiring or batteries required, operates on solar energy
  • Does not require electricity to exhaust air from attics spaces
  • Solar panel operates at 12-Volt
  • Solar panel is manufactured tempered glass; rugged design to withstand high wind pressure, hail and snow load; providing exceptional panel rigidity
  • Quiet fan operation; designed to run up to 40,000 life hours per fan
  • Inner vertical louvers will keep insects, birds and squirrels from entering the vent allowing optimal air flow and no maintenance
  • Round aerodynamic design can with stand harsh weather and wind forces of up to 200 mph
  • Vent head has a flat one piece spun cap that prevents rain and snow from entering
  • Pitch capacity range: 3/12 to 12/12
  • Net free air: 144 sq. in. (1.00 sq. ft.)
  • Ventilation rule 1:300: 1 unit per 600 sq. ft. of attic space (maximum up to 900 sq. ft.)
  • Weatherwood powder coating finish is significantly greater at resisting scratching, chipping, and oxidation
  • 1007 CFM at 0.1 SP
  • Removable vent head for easy access
  • Exhausts air continuously even after the sun sets or on cloudy days
  • Works 24/7, helps to reduce energy costs

A:  No, it would not work for 850 cf, as stated in the product specifications, using the 1:300 rule "One unit per 600 sq. ft. of attic space" The solar fan will work if the panel is facing the sun.

            Does not work(on overcast days)
I took it out of the box inside to test with the lights on, nothing happened. I took it outside at noon while somewhat overcast but still bright, nothing happened. I called the manufacturer and he said it basically has to be a very bright sunny day. Definitely returning and avoiding this manufacturer.

Bad. Very bad. Do not buy.
Had it professionally installed on roof three days ago. South facing. For three days now, I checked it in the morning, and midafternoon. Attic is very hot and noticed that only two small fans on left side is running. Right side no movement at all every time I checked. Going to buy something better to replace this thing. Did not worth even a quarter of what I had to pay for it. Now, it is going to cost me money to have it removed and something else installed. Not a happy camper.

                Great Active/Passive Vent
Attics are hot in Hawaii especially since most homes do not have A/C. This is a nice looking aluminum, not galvanized steel, fan. Powered free by the sun during the heat of the day and passively exhausts air at night. My attic runs around 120 degrees when the outside temperature is 90 degrees. After a 30 minute easy installation, my 500 sf attic averages 96 degrees with an outside temperature of 90 degrees at 3 pm. Feeling of less humidity in the attic is nice. Amazed how a little ventilation from a superior product helps. I ordered weatherwood paint which is beautiful. This company makes the nicest looking and most thought out vents for sure. Would highly recommend.

Installed today looks good, after about five minutes the solar panel had enough energy to start running. it turned on and off a few times but is now running constantly. A couple of the screw sets came off during shipment put them back in before install.

Maybe I just got a dud but it simply doesn't work. I tested the electrical connections and they are fine, but the fans will only run when the entire structure is aimed DIRECTLY at the sunlight. Sunlight at an angle, fans won't spin. Very light cloud cover, fans won't spin. Moved my hand over a very small corner of the solar array when aimed at direct sunlight, fans won't spin. Returning today and looking for a better quality product.

Worst investment I've made in my home
This was the worst money I've ever paid for a home improvement! This "fan" consists of 4 computer size fans run by a solar panel for power. You pay for the solar panel, not the "fan". There are no other moving parts so it does NOT act with wind at night to help with ventilation. I'm VERY disappointed. Shame on me for buying this product!

                      Product easy to install
Four small fans in unit seem too small to make a noticeable difference in a garage. Might need more than one unit Recommend only if used in a small space

                      Product has great features
We initially bought this product because of its solar powered feature but we got more than what we expected. The solar roof ventilation fan came powder coated in the same almost the same color as the roof shingles we had bought also it has reduced my power bill by $30 at least which is a lot.

                      Decent little solar fan
If you have a large and long attic you would need at least a couple of these fans to noticeably lower temp. on a hot summer day. However if you want quiet and free attic fan (no tax on the sun rays yet...) this is for you. When fans don't work (like on a cloudy day) it still circulates air, a plus. Solar panel is permanently attached flat on the top so you don't see it unless the roof is steep, blends with your shingles.
