Q:What is your preferred way of securing this in place? Are you using Liquid Nails for instance?

Answer This Question

A:  We used this as the access to a fabricated glove box on a pontoon boat console. We used short white screws in each corner to fasten it after pre-drilling holes. After a year outdoors it did yellow considerably so we will probably paint it to make it look new again.

by|Dec 5, 2018

A:  You can use liquid nails. I opted to drill a hole through the inside flange and run a small screw into the stud when I finished out my laundry room, figuring it could be removed later when I re-paint.

A:  Don’t remember what adhesive I used but liquid nail would be a good choice. Could use screws in anchor inserts but that’s not as clean of a look as adhesive.

A:  Yes, Liquid Nails works great. You may need to clamp the frame in place for 24 hours to achieve a good bond.

        by|Dec 7, 2018

A:  This has protrusions on it that if you cut the drywall correctly it will slide into place and the protrusions will bite into the side of the drywall. Mine has been secure for 2 years with no adhesives.

A:  This panel fits in a 4X6" hole, the door is actually slightly less than 4X6 (maybe 1/8"). The whole panel is 5 3/4" X 7 3/4"

                A:  The 4 x 6 is the door opening. The overall size is 6 x 8.

A:  Mine is already installed but I don't think the door is removable. It hinges open on the side.

A:  Doesn’t seem to be removable from what I can tell. It is all plastic with plastic hinges. My hand fits in the opening fine, if you need more space I would look for a different size. Hope that helps

A:  Yes, the door can be removed and reinserted. Note you really need a flathead screwdriver to open it as there is nothing to grab to pull it open; just a slat to pry the door open. This is fine as it shouldn't be accessed regularly anyway.

A:  4 x 6 will do it! The door measures 3.75 inches wide and 5.75 inches tall. The panel itself is about 5.75 inches wide and 7 5/8 inches tall.

A:  It is 4 x 6 the shape of the door that you see cut into the plastic Dilip beyond that overlaps the 4 x 6 so it fits in the 4 x 6 hole.

                                by|Mar 5, 2018

A:  the O/S door measurements are 3 and 3/4 by 5 and 3/4. The hole in the wall should be 4"X 6"

Having installed a steam room control panel in a bathroom wall (secured to the tile by silicone), we wanted to be able to access the wires going to the control panel from the back side. So, we needed an access panel to cover the hole in the drywall on the other side of the wall. Since the wall is adjacent to the steam room, it was recommended we use a plastic access panel as it wouldn't rust. So, this access panel fit the bill. The only issue with the access panel is that it does not have any holes for drywall screws to secure it. We ended up using silicone to secure it to the drywall. Hopefully, this is sufficient.

This product was small enough to fit into areas underneath sinks to be able to place water leak detectors during new construction, easy to open, easy to close, stays closed when shut. Will use it again.

I used this on a pontoon boat console as a glove box door where there had been a large hole. It looks great though it can be difficult to open without a screwdriver or similar instrument.
