Q:I have a well that is 57 inches at the base next to the house, and goes down to 33 inches near the walkway. Given this, would the L9 model work for that? I cannot find anything stating that 45 inches is the minimum it can do, it just says 45-60 inches.

I installed 2 of these adjustable grates over my window wells that are approximately 4 feet deep ...
I installed 2 of these adjustable grates over my window wells that are approximately 4 feet deep which would be difficult for a child or small animal to get out of. I also installed the ladders and have the security kits as well but have not put those in yet. Not sure if the 400+ pound weight support capability advertised is realistic but IMO these are a better deal than some other higher priced alternatives available that would have cost significantly more as well as shipping costs.

Great cover for our well windows!
We have been looking at a lot of alternatives for window well covers, many much more expensive. However, these grates work better than we could have hoped. They were not very hard to adjust and when done, look very custom. They sit down in the well just enough and have enough weight that the high winds don't bother them. They also seem very strong. I was able to stand on them and felt secure they would hold. It is nice too, to be able to open the window and not affect the fresh air coming in. I think they will hold up and look good for a long time. Great investment and highly recommended!

A grate solution
This window well cover is a better solution than those plastic covers that become brittle and discolored over time. I have oversized window wells with large basement windows that let in lots of light, so I wanted something that would allow light to pass through. These Adjust-a-Grate covers are a little more pricey, but they are built to last.

Out of all the grates that we looked at this...
Out of all the grates that we looked at this one seemed like the best option at the best price. When it arrived, it didn't disappoint. It is well built and the adjustability on it works well for what we needed. It is heavy duty enough at supporting a 400lb capactity, some of the more expensive options were only rated up to 300 lbs. It allows plenty of light in while at the same time providing a level of privacy due to the reflective nature of it when viewing the window from the outside. Happy with the purchase, I would recommend it and buy it again myself if I had a do-over.
