Q:the instructions for the 48 inch dethatcher say not to use more than 70lb, but the video shows 2 cinder blocks that together weigh more than 70lb. Can you explain?

    Answer This Question

A:  The blocks to be used on the dethatcher are 2 flat patio blocks. They are low profile. The cinder block is used on the aerator unit. Thank you.

          Seems nice so far
Over all I like it. It was simple enough to assemble and such. When using it the front is slightly higher than the back. I have it adjusted for the highest hitch possible. And it's good enough foe my mower. But for anyone with a bigger mower and a higher hitch it will be an issue. I would be nice if the handle to raise and lower it was accessible from the seat of the mower. So far I just pulled it through a little of my lawn to try it out. It appears that it will work well. But now I am waiting for my lawn to green before using it.

Very easy to assemble. I am 62 and did it with a little help from my husband. He helped push the tabs down for the metal spikes. Directions were very easy to follow. If I remember correctly, it took me about 45 minutes to assemble it. When I went to use it on the lawn, I was afraid to add any concrete blocks for weight. I didn't want to ruin my yard by having the spikes down into the dirt too much. I had mower going very slow so it wouldn't bounce that much over any ruts. Didn't seem to bounce that much at all. For some reason I thought the metal tines were a softer metal. Nope, they are very hard steel tines. I tried to a crisscross pattern over the yard as best as I could. There are some areas where it just isn't possible to go in just one direction. I wasn't sure how well this dethatcher was working until I finished and went over the yard with the lawn sweeper. Wow, all the thatch that I was sweeping up surprised me. I had 3 huge piles of thatch just doing my back yard. Did the front a few days later and I had 3 more large piles. I had no problem with anything building up on the tines to force me to stop to clean them out. But then again, I didn't add weight to it so it wasn't digging deeper into the dirt. So happy I got this dethatcher and the lawn sweeper for my birthday!! It'll be used many times over the years.

Instructions to assemble were straight forward. Be sure to read and heed. The dethatcher worked as advertised but my Cub Cadet Lt 1045 Hydrostatic Drive did not like it after about an hour due to trans oil heating up. It struggled towards the end to pull and had to let it cool down. After completing my back yard I picked up a record three trips to the recycle center worth of five packed trash cans of grass roots and such. I did this approximately six weeks ago and today is 29 May 2018 and my grass has had time to recover the shock. We have been getting a lot rain lately and I have been really surprised on how quick it has bounced back. The only negative thing to review is the engage/disengage handle is a bit flimsy. It flexes a bit too much for my taste when you twist your torso on the mower and reach back to engage/disengage dethatcher tines. Hope this helps, and get your Mow Onn!!

            works great
Bought this de-thatcher for my 1 1/2 acre lawn, works great but needs containment blocks to keep weight from sliding around or falling off during use.

Easy to assemble, easy to use, all around great product for the money! I was surprised how much dead grass was hidden in my lawns after a long winter!

              40" Tine De-Thatcher
I've always depended on aerators for the care of my lawn, but decided to try a de-thatcher to wake up zoysia grass. I wish I had bought it already assembled, but managed to put mine together in a couple of hours despite being an old man. I couldn't wait to run it around my yard and am patiently awaiting positive results.

                Works great!
Very good quality. Relatively easy assembly for an 81 year old man with very limited mechanical skills.

Worked quite well once weight was added to the tray.. Easy to assemble. Worth the money. Overall quite pleased.
