Good tool, poor welding.
The design works it was not welded properly for the heavy job and vibrations it has to endure. All spools where only welded 1/2 around, that let the spool and the hub start to move and eventually broke all the welds. I did also notice the welds had very poor penetration, inexcusable in this day of robot welding. So I had to dissemble clean off all the paint and reweld the entire unit. no problems after that. There is no excuse to not weld this tool 360 around the axle. The way you are doing it it is creating opposing forces on the weld(push/pull) that's an obvious engineering mistake, and an easy fix. Disappointing.

SmartLink Plug Aerator
Assembly is straightforward and pretty easy once you get going, but having a few pages of instructions instead of just a diagram would’ve been helpful during the assembly process. While it is possible to install the aerator onto the SmartLink platform by yourself, the process of doing so would be simplified greatly if Agri-Fab could provide a horizontal floor stand for the aerator attachment that could also be used in the installation or detachment process. Once installed on the SmartLink platform, the aerator attachment itself performs well and does the job as expected. The knives are very sharp, well-designed, and penetrate the soil well - especially with weight added to the SmartLink platform tray. The amount of weight needed to achieve your desired penetration depth will vary depending on how compacted, wet, or dry your soil is. Overall, it’s pretty easy to use and does a good job of aerating the lawn. I’d definitely recommend this implement for DIY lawn care enthusiasts.

Made a frame to attach to the 3-point on my garden tractor, installed the plug aerator and it worked perfect. It pulled 3" plugs on wet grass.

Does the job well
I own 5 Agri-Fab products. This was one of my recent purchases. It failed due to some bad welds. During the pandemic, they couldn't get enough welders - so they instituted an automated welding machine, resulting in some bad welds due to start-up issues.
Sarah in customer service was great. Instead of replacing just the parts that failed - they shipped me replacements for ALL the parts that might have been affected.
I would recommend Agri-Fab products to all my friends.

Nice plugs
I'm hoping for a nicer dinner lawn. I was told to dethatch and aerate. I bought the SmartLINK base, dethatcher and plug aerator.
We will see. I also overseeded and liked. Wil fertilize when the grass shows up.

Smart link core aerator
First time owning my own aerator so all I can say is that it seems to be well built. Had no problem in the NC clay which was a bit of a concern for me. I need to dial in the amount of weight I will use in the future. For the initial use I just put the two 40lb bags of seed on the platform.
