No, fertilizing is not required
Hi Mp. Thank you for your question. As with the Golden Pothos, the colder December weather that Atlanta experiences is not conducive to the Tillandsia. Outdoor temperatures would have to be in the 70 F and 90 F degrees range. Per the recommendations of the EVERGRACE nursery, the Tillandsia will thrive in a variety of indoor lighting conditions, but a room with medium to bright light and a north or west facing window is best. Do not keep your plant in direct sunlight. Tillandsias can be kept outdoors year-round if protected from frost. https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfImages/c6/c690b76b-58fd-4fee-a0d7-0b9cca7baf27.pdf Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. Yes, this plant will last if it is kept in the closet for 1-2 days. However, it is not recommended to store in the box it was received. Once the plant has been received, please unpack immediately and water the plant before placing it in the closet or hiding place.
